leadership, motivation, be the model you needed when you was a student.
Always look for ways to improve your teaching.
An instructor must:
continue the development of the skills one possesses, remembering to be caring, respectful and address problems appropriately.
I
Model professionalism and ensure that you are always ready to go, but bring originality and enthusiasm each time you teach.
As a leader, always lead by example and be the support system to your students. Be their motivation. And although you are a leader, there is always room for growth as a teacher.
Agreeing with the last comment, model, manage and motivate! I thought it was most interesting to learn that its important not to fall into the babysitter role. I want students to feel comfortable and be themselves, but often, it becomes an issue when they bring their problems to the classroom and lab environment. It is distracting and brings everyone out of focus. Refocusing students on the goal of learning and keeping them motivated is something I want to become better at.
Lead by model but at the same time do not assume you are the smartest person in the room because chances are you are not.
Always be updated about new technology. Always be model for the students.
Lead by example in the classroom.
Lead by example, recognize that the instructor can learn from students as well.
I've learned that the way you present yourself as an instructor is a reflection of your interest regarding the topic you are attempting to educate your students on. Another take away, was the need for further growth and development as an instructor. We need to continue to educate ourselves and better ourselves and ways of presenting information in such a way that will encourage our students to learn and come out feeling that they learned and accomplished something during the course.
Being prepared for sessions is also a matter of respect that can displayed towards students!
There are important take-aways from being a new instructor. One of the most important take-aways is leaning from others and building a good foundation for yourself as a new instructor.
Model/Manage/Motivate
Be prepared
Reflection
keep students. motivated and collect as much information as possible on
the subject you are teaching
I believe leading by example and modeling the behaviors expected are very important when teaching others. Some students have no idea how to act in a classroom, let alone a profession setting. It is my hope I can help them learn these behaviors.
Yes I really liked how it was stressed that one has to model the behavior expected. Leading by example is a wonderful way to teach.
You bring to the classroom and your students your personal competence with your ability to communicate, be creative, and inspire them by showing enthusiasm in your career which may eventually motivate them to progress.
Being a first time teacher, I plan to reflect often on how to better instruct students and help them toward their education/career goals. ALWAYS LEARNING!!
