Effective Communication Skills in Admissions

I am really inspired by the many trainings I received in effecitive communication within Admissions. One of the most important things I learned within these modules and learning how to listen attentively in order to best assist anyone in general. One of the things I will always implement from now on is talking to people using their names. I had no clue how important this was and how it makes a difference. Learning how to read body language and using mirror language is also crucial in our type of working enviornment in order to determine if we are indeed doing… >>>

Communications Trainings.

I feel that the training on communication provids multiple tools that will enable me to have much greater and effective comunication within the Admissions department and with each student. These tools are necessary in order to carry out daily operations as well as, to be successful whether in personal or professional manners.

Are we immersed in the information age or the disinformation age? It is all a matter of perspective. The internet provides an open forum that allows users to contribute information that the rest of us are left to decipher for truth. Performance Metrics for Admissions

The job of an admissions professional has certainly changed and become increasingly challenging in recent years.  I'm curious, how is someone working to help students enroll in college held accountable for performance without crossing the lines of pay for performance?

Also, how can we strengthen the admissions profession in this sector?

For example, some campuses are politically liberal; some are conservative. A student body might especially value the arts, or athletics or community service. This question helps you determine if you might fit in well among your potential classmates.

Avoiding Misrepresentation in Admissions - It's Time!

The recent Vatterott ruling has many talking ...and very nervous.  Needless to say, mystery shopping and training are at heightened levels.  HOWEVER...I have an additional idea.  What about training the team to help students make an informed decision that might just happen to increase enrollments at the same time?

If your admissions training program still uses outdated sales techniques and offers little counseling services...it may be time to consider something new.  In addition, please make sure your training progam and practices are legally vetted.
