Admissions

The Admissiond Rep has to love what they do in order to be successful!

Material

I was impressed that I learned new material, being that I have an M.A. I just love learning and reading, this was no exception!

Graduation importance

Postsecondary education schools are not required to to hold a graduation ceremony for their graduates.

Though I understand this may not necessarily need to be required I am a little shocked at the idea that certain school would actually opt out of this. Graduations acts as ameans of something for enrolled students to look forward to and work towards. It is a celebration of their acheivements and goals.

As an admissions rep I also find showing pictures of graduation ceremonies and explaining to students about graduation often excites them. Potential students being able to picture themselves in a cap and… >>>

Content

the content of the course material was great

Course Material

This was a really great course with the perfect amount of material covered.  I enjoyed learning at my own pace.

What have you learned being in Admissions?

Being in Admissions is different for me! It's exciting and new! I get to see students who want to suceed and I also get to see older adults who want to change careers. Tell me what you get to see working in admissions.

Admissions Training

I really enjoyed the Admissions training course. I received some very good ideas on what questions to ask during the rest of my training. I also loved the idea of the resource book so I can keep all of my training organized!

Multi Cultural Backgrounds Communication

This course was great and as a first time participant I can say I did learn a lot.  One thing that I would like to see for future training sessions is, if relevant, to speak on different types of students not just your regurlar one, such as out of high school or a transfer from different school but those other groups out there such as former military and other cultures.

The new sales

Advertising has changed drastically in the last years.  Selling definitely needs to change also.

The Social Media Impact on Higher Education Admissions

Nearly 3.2 million students graduate high school annually and 80% of them use social networking sites.  What does this mean for colleges' and universities' enrollment strategies?

Recommendation as the New Advertising
Today's student represents the connected consumer.  The connected consumer is savvy and uses their social networks for research, using both public information available on the internet as well as word-of-mouth information gathered from others in their networks and even from strangers.  For example, if a student wants an opinion on a school, they won't necessarily call the school; they may post a question in a social network… >>>

The NEW Admissions Funnel

Did you know that the admissions funnel has been a standard measure of performance in both for-profit and non-profit colleges and universities for over 4o years?!  Just click below to watch this webinar and learn more about what the non-profits have discovered on why the funnel isn't working anymore and what needs to happen to improve results.  This webinar will shape EVERY conversation and decision your organizaton makes in 2013 and beyond!

Important Group Discussions

My team had some great discussions based upon the training.  We have someone brand new to education, all the way to someone who has almost twice the experience of myself.  We discussed things that are typical for newbies, like being concerned about how to answer questions and how that limits your listening skills, and it caused us all to look at where we are deficient.

Thank you!

Thank you for the course! I learned a lot and enjoyed taking the course!

Whitney

Wonderful Course!

I really enjoyed taking this course! It gave me many ideas of how to handle common set backs from potential students. My favorite part was the reference to emotional intelligence. I believe that is such an important trait to have an admissions advisor. Thank you for this course, I have already started apply the knowledge I learned!

Balancing Compliance While Improving Admissions Performance - Can it be done?

If you're like a lot of schools/colleges out there, admissions performance metrics have taken a back seat to a hyper focus on compliance.  Just curious how your organization is improving typical admissions metrics and enrollment results while staying compliant?  Is it possible?

2012 Education Trends Through the Eyes of the Customer

Google released an insightful study entitled 2012 Education Trends through the Eyes of Your Customer.  This research study was based on their internal search data, Compete clickstream data and the results of a brand perceptions study with Ipsos OTX.  Among the findings, here are some highlights:

  • 80% of education search query paths end without a conversion.
  • 1 in 4 education researchers never even look outside the web.
  • 9 in 10 don't know which school they want to attend at the onset of the journey.
  • 2 out of every 3 researchers who use video do so to understand specific features of

What a good course to take for new ideas and upgrades to your admissions process.  I will be taking a lot of what I learned from this course and using it at the school.  Thank you!

Can Admissions Really Have an Impact on Retention?

I presented on a webinar yesterday comprised of 100's of those responsible for student retention.  When asked what role admissions played in retention, over 50% said that admissions should play a major role.  Nearly 60% of the same group believed admissions didn't have the actual training to do this in a meaningful way though. So it's tough to hold admissions accountable unless they are trained and have the proper resources.  What do you believe admission professionals need in order to truly impact student retention?
