This topic provided useful activities and socIal media sites that could be used for creating hosting and sharing platforms. Two of these were Wiki and blogs. In addition there was information on rubrics and other forms of assessment that could determine assessment of the mastery of what was learned and therefore provide outcomes data in line with the University mission.

The content format, the rubrics and the evaluation methods must be designed according to the learning objectives, the social media channel and the students profile

I like the concept of utilizing a rubric for students to ascertain they have gained the knowledge and understanding needed to complete the learning objective. Rubrics can be used effectively to assess the use of wikis and blogs as media hosting and sharing sites. Wikis and blogs can be used as media hosting and sharing sites as they provide the platform for embedding existing videos, links, audio, and other media.

The grading method depends on the social media tool being utilized.

I never knew about sites such as TeacherTube, SchoolTube, iTunesU and Google Workspace for Education to engage students in the learning process. I need to take advantage of all the variety available to me.

Social media is only effective if used properly to teach students.

The importance of using a media sharing site, to enhanced a students learning.

I learned and reinforced my current usage of media sharing and sharing sites are important in todays classroom. The diversity found online to share with the classroom is vast and useful to support all learning styles as well as real life connections to your lesson content.

"Rubrics should benefit the students and help the instructor consistently evaluate the assignment."

Rubrics should be used to set expectations and to measure objectives.

So, the module on the proper use of social networking within educational settings has illuminated crucial aspects that I plan to integrate into my teaching approach. Specifically, the distinctions between personal and professional social media use underscore the need for we educators to maintain a clear boundary, ensuring that interactions remain respectful and relevant to educational goals.  Also, the insights on transparency and responsibility in posting have reinforced the necessity of honesty in one's digital presence, which enhances credibility and builds a trustworthy learning environment. I intend to apply these principles by more rigorously monitoring the social media interactions within my courses, ensuring that they strictly adhere to the educational objectives, and maintaining student information's privacy and confidentiality.

I have learned that many media platforms students are already using, can be adapted to classroom assignments.  This would be great for many different types of programs, especially marketing and advertisement.  It would be a long stretch for me to see how I could use it in my accounting classes, but could be very useful in my business communications class.

It's important to remember to use rubrics when utilizing media hosting.  This enables the instructor to have a basic format and shows the students what is expected of them.

Make sure the platform can be used to put the proper content for the students on it.

Students can create material and post while learning from the peers posts.  Technical ability can be expected.

I've learned to be creative but purposeful in the use of media!

I'm curious to implement social media more into my classroom.

Blogs can be utilized by students as media hosting and sharing sites where we can evaluate their writing skills. I assign blogs to student for their online jornals.journals

Implied.. Any method of assessing the effectiveness , has to be tailored to the the student makeup and background. Most of my instruction is multinational. Language, culture, religion, impacts the methods and the resources that have to be considered for each country

I am fascinated and excited to use media hosting platforms in my instruction. I am a huge fan of "knowledge creation" among students and utilizing social media will assist in that objective.  I really appreciate the guidance on creating a general rubric with assessment considerations that can be modified as needed.  I also see using social media in course work as an opportunity to shape student behavior in their personal use.  Having clear "rules" or "expectations" in the academic setting will enable students to develop the "muscle memory" to execute constructive, civil, positive actions and behaviors in their personal use.
