Providing students with a rubric for self-assessment, helps them realize the importance of objectives.

Students need to focus on learning with technology and not from technology.

The text formatting, navigation, shapes and colors must be consistent with other modules.  Too much emphasis is no emphasis at all when it comes to using bold and italics. 

Keep your syllabus as detailed as possible for students.  It is your contract with the student and with their signed agreement to it, you can go back and the information in the syllabus for any problems or issues that may arise.

That sometimes you have to remind you students where they started and how far they've come.  It's important to let the students know you care about them and are committed to helping them succeed.
