Comment on Michael Howe's post: I learned the 4 types of classroom management.

There are 4 management styles which are the controller, the buddy, the guide and the apathete. The best teaching results are from the guide. There are ways to transition from the other management styles to become a guide which will ultimately lead to the most learning.

Comment on Michael Howe's post: very on point.

This lesson has taught me behaviors of the four styles of classroom management and each of their traits. This should allow me to be able to pick out any tendency I may have and either correct it or improve upon it.

I have learned that a successful instructor adjusts the way they manage their classes as the need arises. Strive to be a guide and not a controller or buddy, and to be a role model for your students.

The four management styles were interesting - being an Apathete is not what I aspire to!! I bounce between controller and buddy; thus more of a guide; however, I can see where I can increase some of the characteristics for either style as needed.

I learned alot about classroom strategies.

I have learned how I can improve my instruction strategies

Comment on Margaret Kimball's post

I loved the overview and comparisons of the different approaches to instruction.

I learned we should watch out for becoming complacent, stay in the loop with new teaching skills/techniques.

I learned to manage in class. I have also discovered my teaching style and at the same time learned ways to improve it.

Classroom management styles!

I found this so much more interesting than I thought it would be. It inspired me to continue down the path I am starting in my management style. It also gave me tips to improve.

I learned that there are the 4 types/styles of instructors. Also I was able to identify what kind of style I follow and what changes I need to make to improve my teaching style and provide the best teaching to the adult students.

Was helpful as a newer instructor.

many thanks for the review of guideline

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT

This module made me think about areas where I am more of a buddy and less of a guide and how I can become more of a guide. I think when the semester begins, I am very much a guide, but as the semester goes on and I do build rapport, my role becomes more of a buddy. I think because the students feel more lax towards the end of the semester that is actually even more important for me to maintain the guide role and do not slip into the buddy role.
