I have a better understanding of what the students needs truly are due to listening more. Leading more with encouragement. Making sure the students understands the reason "why" behind what we are communicating them.
Understanding the backgrounds of my students is a very important part to teaching them well.
This course has helped me understand that by assigning students of different ages to work together in small groups, there is an opportunity to develop an appreciation of what each of them can bring to the class. By encouraging their efforts and validation, they can be successful in the course, this type of support can be useful to maintain their focus on their career goals.
Very good information, but if communication is meant to be a two-way street... adult students might need to bring up concerns they have.
To look after a students needs will increase their chances of successfully completing the course.
I learned that gleaning on the experiences of your students as well as your own experiences can enhance the learning experience and give validity to what is being taught. Thus cementing the value of the curriculum to the students.
I learned age and culture has role in students learning style. Motivation for learning will range, we can always support it with career goals. Also, treating the teaching/learning environment as a real life experience will give them confidence.
Aside from meeting basic needs and offering proper encouragement, students can benefit greatly from working in groups with age diversity. Many aspects of offering comfort and encouragement do not have to come directly from the instructor. They can also come from peer to peer interactions amongst the students in your course.
This course helped me more efficiently engage with the student perspective, and will allow me to tailor my responses and discussions to individual student needs and learning styles.
In this module I learned that it is very important to take the time to learn each individual student. Learn about their career goals, why they are in this course, what helps them retain information best.
Understanding why students are in class and their different goals is helpful for knowing how to engage them in the classroom.
This module helped think about the student perspective. Each has their own experience, expectations, bias, and resignations.
understand the student so you can help there learning process
Comment on Martha Rodriguez's post: I agree and it will be helpful through all my future courses.
I must before everything else get to know about my students to include age, disabilities, social origins, career goals etc.
Communication with my students as adult learners
All students have individual needs
All students have individual needs
I loved the idea of having a chart that holds photos of each student, along with background information on them, which I could review before a lesson to know how to best approach the class for that even audience.
try to help respond to each individual need discover there learning process
everyone is different and there need are as well
