It is important to challenge students outside of their comfort zone for them to learn.

Competency Based Education is so important, not only for the students learning, but also shop safety.

This was helpful because I am less familiar with the "affective" (interest, attitude and values) domain of Blooms. Receiving, responding, valuing, organization, characterization all very important to the learning process.

By giving hands on stimulates the other learning styles. Encourages them to think, ask questions, analyze and assess what they have accomplished. All to give them real world experience.

I learned that different students need to be motivated in different ways. Blooms Taxonomy helps decipher things a bit.

Also... Competencies help students relate what they learned in the lab to real world scenarios.

Comment on Omar Muneeb's post:  yes this relates to a technical school

I am applying this through holding lecture in the lab with the components we are discussing. I will be disassembling and working with the components while lecturing. This keeps all learning styles engaged.

I found it interesting that people with the same learning styles learn best when they're in groups together.

Comment on Laura Hogins's post:  use all three styles

It is important to apply the knowledge we've learned to competency based education. Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor each play an important part in the learning process.

Competency based education is a student centered  learning approach, it helps them to master their skills on their own speed and capabilities. This can lead to better results and student outcome, and prepare them for modern world work environment.

Incorporating bloom's taxonomy will help bring out the student's cognitive, affective and psychomotor skills.

Comment on Charles Trenk's post: I totally agree with the point that students are more focused on the end results rather than the process and it is quite a challenge.

Hence, during my practical sessions in the anatomy lab I try  my best to put my objectives in a simplified way with minimal detailings and focusing on small groups of 10 to 12 students.

I believe the as in past lesson topics, the learners will learn faster and remember a greater portion of the lessons when they can do hands on. They also can apply the AFFECTIVE domain process; this will reaffirm what skills and abilities they have acquired.

It is important to integrate a competency based education with critical thinking that can be furthered by incorporating affective domain modalities and discussion.

I think it is important to target all ways of learning.

The use of Bloom's Taxonomy can assist in evaluating the effectiveness of clinical lab assignments.

Blooms Taxonomy is an interesting teaching tool. I could see how it could really work in a shop situation. I like what Mike wrote in the commment above.

It is important to be able to apply knowledge learned and demonstrate competencey in the ability to do so.
