Dealing with demeaning bosses

I have learned that you must first learn how to read your bosses mood before discuss anything. Reality is that sometimes an unimportant issue can raise a conflict (most likely I wasn't able to read the mood) and your boss can end up using a bad selection of words such as "you'll sound like a retard" or "that's so stupid". Most likely I will read that as a personal attack and worsen the situation... after reflecting the issue and being out of the hype of the momentum, I realize that situation could have been easily avoided. Solution: Stay Away! If you can't read your boss mood, avoid raising issues. Any suggestions?

How do you handle unhealthy situation's?

How do you handle unhealthy situations with students, clients or other employee's who do not see it as unhealthy?? Most people cannot see negative or unheathy behaviors in themselves. So how do you bring it to there attention with-out making it worse?

Personal Accountability...

I feel that we should all be personally accountable and responsible for our own actions. This is a great way to lead by example as well. Damion L. Bogus Admissions Representative

Team Building

I strongly believe in team building to relieve stress and to create a positive work environment. Are there any suggestions out there on team building activities that we can implement on a weekly, daily, or monthly basis?

You must be an example

Managers cannot be all talk and no actions. Managers need to lead by example.

Ethics and goal setting

Most typical unethical mistake is lowering standards or saying things you should not say, to meet defined goals... I have seen many times (in previous jobs) managers overseeing the unethical behavior to achieve his own goals. How is possible for the employee and the manager be on the same page specially in an environment of achieving higher goals is required to maintain your job?

Knowledge Sharing

The tutorial is very informative in describing how to treat and work with fellow employees as management team. Hoe to share knowledge to maximize productivity and be more effective and result oriented as a manager and peers. To set standards and follow work ethics. This information is beneficial to all employees in all positions.

Guilty

Well, I am guilty, guilty, guilty. However, it all makes sense. Just this last week my wife had some extra activities she had to do. In order to allow her that time, I took over the late afternoon-early evening playtime with our grandson. What a joy. Tristan and Paw out playing in the sprinkler. I felt better for days for it.

Hello Everyone

Hi everyone, I'm just excited about being part of this team! cheers, thomas

Stress Management

I think taking out stress through physical activity is a win win situation. Relief stress and feel better about yourself through the same activity. I would recommend hitting the gym for all!

Connecting With Your Boss.

Besides knowing everything about how your boss operates at work, I think it is also important to connect on some personal level, even if minimum.

Looking at those Around You.

Is looking at how those around you may affect you a good area of personal assessment.

Looking at Me

I think this information is good to remind us that we need to focus on being honest with ourselves in what we are doing and if it is "acceptable" or "unacceptable" based on preception of those around us as well as our Leadership team. Our behavior can effect others!

Burnout

I think that burnout is very serious. Especially when it begins to effect one's life physically and emotionally. I believe that sometimes the only way to heal may be to leave that current position, either for a short period like a "leave" or leaving the position entirely.

Handling stress

I work two jobs one from 8 am to 11 30 am go home take a shower come to job 2 at 130 and get home at 11pm. My time is my stress reliever. Going home getting my PJS on and laying in bed watching tv till 2 am

handling stress

I find after a tough day at the office, if I go home, change into some comfortable clothing, and take the dog for a long walk, it tends to take the stress away, helps my weight (the thought of which adds more stress), and puts the work day in a totally different perspective

Keep Training No On Knows It All

A great reminder to keep your mind open.

It is possible to make things better, no matter what.

I feel the pressures of stress and responsibility mostly when I do doubles. I have a child with special needs and have adopted a mother and her two children with special needs and an ex meth adict. To help pay the bills I do side jobs out of the garage and at the track to pay for vacations and extra things that come up. My wife stays home to take care of everyone and I do my best to help her when I am not working. We don't have a lot of free time, but we make a date half way through the week and on the weekends to spend time with eachother. My stress level is manageable. To get to this point nearly divorced us and took some major adjusting to survive and "level the waters." I am mostly broke but have enough to make it and enjoy ourselves with a short trip now and then. I feel fortunate to have the love and respect of my family who are getting the mental, emotionl spiritual and monetary needs fulfilled. Seeing these results over the past 7 years is a major enforcement which keeps me going with positive attitude. Considering I grew up being a procastinator, non-achiever and inherently selfish, I belive if I can do it, so can anyone. Many of the tools they talk about in here as well as having achievable/acountable goal are valuable to making your stress manageable no matter what the circumstance.

humor,a good stress reliever

Having a good sense of humor can go a long way toward relieving tons of stress.Try not to take yourself quite so seriously all the time.Give yourself a chance to enjoy what you do.

Leading By Example

This was a great reminder to me to lead by example not by emotion.
