Putting extra time in the beginning pays off in the end.

We must engage our students in order to be able to hold their attention.

Interesting!

Although I already use a great deal of technology in my classroom, this course opened my eyes to some important steps to take during the time I will be teaching online.  I did not realize why my graduate school professors required so much while I was learing online.  Now, I understand and it will help a great deal!

Learning techniques

EL102 Learning Techniques module provided a number of helpful strategies when providing on-line learning...I would like to see better instruction and support from my indivudual organization when using our current system.

Instructors

It is crucial that we as instructors provide a good turnaround time on feedback, constructive criticism and grades in order to improve performance, enhance learning and engage with the student. I also believe that when the student is supported in their learning environment they have more confidence to ask questions and feel comfortable interacting with the class.

It's challenging, but entirely do-able!

Hi, I hope you are all doing well :) For those of you who already teach online, aren't we blessed to have the experience? Whew... For those who are new to this style of teaching, relax, just do what you do.  You've got this! You're a teacher afterall...built to survive! The only advice I can give as someone who has taught online classes, is to be clear, consistent, and provide tons of feedback to your students as to how they are doing.  Chats, discussions, a few YouTube videos, videos you create (Camtasia is awesome for this), and you should do… >>>

Online vs. Instruction

As a middle school technology teacher, using an online learning management system goes hand-in-hand with classroom instruction.  With the current state of the pandemic closures, I will be assisting students who are continuing their education via online platforms exclusively.

Follow-up with students, especially the younger students, is difficult even when they see me in the classroom, so I am expecting some challenges in respect to the students who are often disengaged, those who lack structure at home, and those who simply don't grasp the concepts as quickly.

Fortunately in our middle school, every student has a ChromeBook and most… >>>

E-Learning

Having to teach from home for the next two months possibly will not present as big a problem for me since taking this training.  I learned a lot of valuable information to enable me to be a better on-line instructor.  The biggest challenge I will have is the variuos types of learners.  This course was very straight forward on how to handle each type and make their on line learning more positive for all.  My plan at this point is to refer often to what I learned to be better at my on-line teaching to enable better learning by my… >>>

How to keep online students engaged and prevent attrition

Over the years, I have found that structuring an online course  in regards to time from day one is best. Most online students balance work, family, and possibly other courses.  Share with students your avaibility at times that best fit you and the student. For example, I'm a morning person so I am most productive between 7 am - noon.  I shared with students that I will review assignments, and reply to any emails  between those times on specified days, eg Mondays and Wednesdays. I also request to allow 48 hours for feedback. As instructors, we also have other responsbilities… >>>

My share.

I would use my knowledge and wisdom and use proper resources to utile and practice the best action plans. Thank you.

ED 104 Online

This course is very appropriate especially in this time of meeting the  teaching requirement of the emergency online course requirement.

There will be a learning curve for many of us but, what I feel is some of the most important things to keep in mind is the following

* Communication with the student

* Turnaround line for student engagement

* Student access to course

* Instructor access to course

* Flexible and approachable IT Support

Transitioning to online teaching

I think my biggest challenge right now is figuring out how to incorporate video clips and more active learning strategies into the online course. I'm so used to being able to lecture and interact with my students onsite. This will challenge my creativity, but I'm up for the challenge! I appreciate any words of wisdom from instructors who are familiar with the online format.

Hints from someone who was a "noisy" student

The most improtant factor in changing my behavior was an instructor who took the time to chat with me about how my behvior was interfering not only with my progress but of the other students in the class. She was able to redirect me through personal emails. I felt that someone cared, that made all the difference in how I worked in the online courses. I was very sucefful after that in all of my course and also in how I utilezed the inofrmation when I was the instructor.

New Territory!

As an instructor to whom the online teaching environment is unfamiliar, I plan to incorporate the information from this educational offering to create course material that includes video clips and provides timely feedback and regular interaction with my students.

On Line Training

THis course is valuable to lead an Online Course.
