How to make the layout of the course apealing to diverse learners in order to keep them engaged.  

 

Learning about the different types of teaching styles and which one is effective for my group of students.  Also, the importance of providing feedback, fostering a positive learning environment and problem based learning for the students. 

 

Asynchronus and synchronus teaching is important and they both have benefits and downsides to both.  It is important to know which one to use and when to use it to fit the needs of the learner. 

 

Learning the differences in technology tools that a teacher can use.  The ones that really spoke to me were the virtual classroom (Elluminate and Adobe connect Professional) and the LMS tools of blackboard and moodle.  I am very interested in trying these platfomrs.  

 

Wisdom:

Assessing students regularly is key to checking for understanding and identifying gaps.

Reteaching when the students are not fully understanding the concepts

Challenges:

Dealing with unmotivated and uninterested learners. 

Multiple sources are best practice when it comes to evaluation of your work and student performance. 

This topic provided us with knowledge on formative vs summative assessments, utilization of a rubric,student to student assessing and various feedback models to the learners.  

 

The lesson was important in learning different online tools in order to  develop communication and online knowledge sharing to develop online learning communities.

 

This lesson taught about the consitiency within course modules and how the learners will navigate it more effectively.  

 

Many online learners will challenge the system in various ways.  It is important to be proactive in putting systems in place in order to avoid these conflicts.  This will help eliviate the amount of time engaging in these situations and therefore give time to students who are active in their learning.
