I have learned how important it is to have consistency in an online course. It enables a better learning environment.

Many classroom props and interactive activites will not be benificial in an online setting.  Mush of these will need to be replaced with virtual activities or activites that can be replicated at home.

Organization and consistency is key.  Remember the four O's of course design: Origin, Organization, Orchestration, and Outcomes assessment.

The on-line course content needs to be relevent to the unit, short & concise, supplemented with a mixture of interactive activities (games, exercises, hands-on activities) to keep the students engaged.  I think one of my biggest challenges will be keeping students with various learning disabilities engaged & keeping them on-track to complete the modules as a class.

Use the four Os, Origin, Organization, Orchestration, and Outcomes assessment when considering how to convert a live course to a virtual one. Engagement is critical and can be provided by the social presence of the instructor, welcoming students to the course, communicating frequently, and sending a wrap-up message at the end of the course. Online learning units must support the learning objectives, get the student's attention early on, be easy to navigate, and include only one or two main points or concepts.

Being organized and taking the time to train and look at the resources that have been given to you to share with students. Of course, it is going to take time to get comfortable and get used to it. But setting time aside to learn if before the module starts is the best thing to do to be ready and prepared. That is what I do. I prepare and have the day ready a week before so in case I get stuck I have time to either find a solution or ask someone else.

What works in a face-to-face course will not automatically convert in an online format.

Being consistent and organiized will help the students and make them feel comfortable as they learn by using different methods and strategies.

Resources my be adapted before using online. You cannot simply take your face-to-face course and use everything online.  It is important to adapt, revise, and evaluate to be sure you are offering the most engaging course you can.

You are transforming the material to allow for student success in the distance learning environment.

Providing consistent layouts for the students and engaging feedback will help the students in a transition to online learning.

Consistency and organization is vital to online learning.  Evaluating the course often is also very important to student learning.

Teachers need to understand that they cannot just post assignments to teach an online course but evaluate what they do to make it more effective.

Consistency is important when building the course and layout in order for students to be more successful. Keep instructional units small, include a variety of strategies such as video clips, games, real-life case studies, etc. in each unit.

Consistency is important when designing online content.  The four O's are useful and should be kept in mind.

I've learned the 4 O's (Origin, Organization, Orchestration, and Outcome Assessment). I will use this to ensure that I am moduifying course content to best meet the needs of my learners and fit their individual differences.

When using instructional modules limit yourself to one to two main ideas and concepts also supporting those concepts with either audio or video clips pictures or instructions to clarify any points to be made

What I got out of this module is that how the course is designed, the consistency of the layout , how to mix different approaches to the subject matter will ensure that the students will be more engaging and interested without feeling isolated even if they don't all have the same technical skills and will be successful towards the end goal.

Course content must be organized, consitent and easy to use.

The layout of an online course is critical to student involvment.  The layout needs to be clear and consistent for the student to stay motivated and understand the course content.
