Activity

I have used my own very simple rubric and I have learned how to create a more dynamic rubric that students can use to practically grade themselves.  Furthermore metarubrics can be used to evaluate my rubrics.

I learned that a ruric should be fair to all students and that Google is one of the many places to start with creating a rubirc.

I have used peer assesment and find it very valuable.  It also creates a little compitition between students which is also valuable if controlled and kept to a realistic level.

I like a simple holistic score.  It is easy to develope and grade.  However, it does little in the way of feedback to the student.  Many students will not concern themselves with the way it was scored unless they are high achievers.

Many classroom props and interactive activites will not be benificial in an online setting.  Mush of these will need to be replaced with virtual activities or activites that can be replicated at home.

I use feedback from the students to monitor my work as a facilitator and adjust as neccessary.  Giving student feedback is essential to guide them and keep them motivated.

The advantages of synchronous learning is that students can feel an immidiate connection to each other and there is no room for procrastination.  Asynchronous learning allows for greater flexability but also allows students to go in at the last minute and finish assignments and posts at the last minute.

When choosing the tool it is important to understand you audiance and their comprehension.  I think you should always choose the most simplistic tool for the job.  Some technology can be too complex and the student could be overwhelmed by the tech.

Revision of the course is key to future students.  The students will tell you through their participation what their interests are.  You will see what worked and what did not work by analysing their responses in dissscusions and seeing the work that they produce.  Overtime, some things may come up that are better resources than the ones that you once used.

Feedback is important to students as it helps them to understand that different teachers have different teaching styles and they will encounter many teachers in their lifetime.  Additionally feedback helps the student scafold changes into their work for future modules.
