Activity

It is important to encourage students to plan and set goals and avoid pitfalls such as procrastination that usually jeopardizes online students' performance. Also, never giving up on your students. Always finding a way to motivate them and let them know you want them to give the best version of themselves and work hard.  I will ensure that I apply the 7 principles of good practice in my online teaching

As an instructor, I  should be able to use a variety of communication tools in an online course. Social networking is important for success in the online course and it's much easier to have all the necessary tools for our students to open the lines of communication too.

I really liked this module and understanding about students' special needs and accommodations. Very good information.

Using Rubric is an excellent tool for the student to use prior to finishing their assignment, it serves as a guide to improve their work. it also lets them know where they went wrong. For example, at the school, I work at if a student does not answer the initial discussion forum within 2 days and answer two classmates within 4 days they lose a lot of points. Having the Rubric lets them know they need to improve on that and motivates them to make sure they answer within the frame it tells them.

A very interesting module about norm and criterion-referenced assessments. Will be utilizing them.

This module was very interesting to me. I worked at a school where we would give them an assessment to see how much they knew about the Medical Assistant Program. By doing the assessment some students after taking it decided that this was not for them and they were able to move on to a different program. Now I know that there are different kinds of tools that can be used to see where the student will be at on his new journey.

When entering grades I use the Rubrics and give them feedback on their discussion and or any assignment

Since day one the students should be told they are to be online every day and is expected to work on assignments. By keeping the zoom fun and engaging them on pre-quizzes or show them a video with the same topic of the week and having them come back an hour before they are to clock out just in case they have any issues or questions on their assignments. That keeps aware of the students that are not doing so well and lack communication. I like to catch that issue early so I can have a one and one zoom… >>>

Most important communication with my students and if I must write up student advisement must be done since week one. I've learned that some students when you let it slide they seem to think you are going to do it all the time. Start since week 1 so they know I am not playing around.

I have been using Zoom, Remind, Texting, School and Private Email to communicate with my students and give them different ways of reaching me should they have any questions or problems with their assignments. They know they can reach me 24/7 and I answer them back. Communication between a student and instructor is very important.
