As a new admissions agent, I’ve learned that this role is much more than recruiting students—it's a position of trust and responsibility governed by specific laws, especially here in Florida. An admissions agent is defined as someone who represents a licensed postsecondary institution by helping prospective students understand program offerings, complete applications, and navigate enrollment. However, the role comes with strict boundaries: we cannot promise employment, misrepresent programs, or use any deceptive tactics during recruitment.
One of the most important lessons from this module is the necessity of staying compliant with the State of Florida’s rules and regulations. Florida law requires that admissions agents be properly trained and licensed, and that we strictly adhere to consumer protection standards.
I intend to apply this by keeping my certification current, following all institutional and state guidelines, and making sure every conversation with a prospective student is honest, respectful, and legally sound. By doing so, I’ll not only help students make informed decisions but also contribute to the integrity and compliance of the institution I represent.
