The differences between types of questions and evaluating knowledge

It is important to be creative in the was to educate and understand student perspective

Assessments need to be based off of what was taught and be able to assess for the information the instructor is trying to assess.

Understanding and applying different testing techniques is important in determining several approaches in assessing students understanding and application of material covered

I have learned that depending on learning objectives and where in course the test is being given and/or if summative or formative determines what type of test is used.

I learned from this module many different ways to test according to how/ways you are teaching. I feel using a few different test could help student that have different learning styles.

Writing tests requires a lot of design consideration . After studying  the material in this section I will be reviewing all of my tests and doing some thoughtful editing.  I want to challenge the students with tests that are tailored to my teaching style.

if I am going to use essay-type questions I need to be specific on what I want for the response, i.e. length, structure, content

How and when to use appropriate tests for students.

There are many styles of tests.

Creating tests that represent differing taxonomies and that meet learning objectives is an art. We need to ensure that we cover the topics and vary question types.

In this module, I learned the different types of tests, and the pros and cons of each type.

I have learned that for every lesson taught, an assessement of how they are learning and what they have learned is essential.

Finding different formats of test and choosing the one that will work best for you and your students.

I learned many different types of assessments and when it may be most appropriate to use them.

There are so many ways to test! We need to figure out what works best for us and what we hope to gain in testing.

I have learned to be more intentional with how I make test questions. I will try writing them after I cover the subject in class to be more accurately connected to the content delivered.

I learned more about best practices for constructing exam items. I hope to be more thoughtful in multiple choice items. I also think it’s helpful for instructors to consider exam and quiz items immediately following each class so that they ensure alignment.

Different types of assessment will provide different levels of evaluations for students

Evaluating the students' retention of knowledge allows the instructor to evaluate their ability to educate the learners in a course.  By examining an exam from the perspective of a student, a teacher may better prepare an assessment to capture the essential information presented throughout the course.
