You need to be organized and prepared. You also need to understand how you present yourself first as a person and second as an instructor.

Keep a check list. Make sure to be prepared and have a notepad

Be prepared and always have something to take notes for yourself!

I learned that it is important to plan out the course by starting with a course outline that i can then use to develop goals, objectives and day-to-day activites.

Overall, I found this module intresting, & even though some items like Syllibus' are alreay established, they can be improved on. As well, cirriculum, goals & objectives, Learning activities, Methods of instruction, & Lesson plans, all of which can be improved on.

  • Using a text book is where I am at now on both courses I teach, and have selected the pertanant information, & added supplementry content, & activities.

  • I already have goals & objectives established, but should always be looked at for improvement.  These can be improved on by general directional indicators, using the A,B,C,D rule.     Audience,  Who am I teaching to.  Behavior,  What is it I whant the to acomplish.   Condition,   What are the rules,     Degree,    What is the level of proficiency they need to be at.

  • The Syllibus is already established for both of my courses, but will be looking at these to improve on them as we move along. I listed 14 different points to consider when establishing a syllibus in my personal notes.  I also leaned that the syllibus is a legal document between the student & the instructor.

  • Although the "teaching invironment" is establised at my institution, we are constianly improving on it, such as new equipment relevent to industry, & the classroom is set with many hands on & visuals that we are continually updating. Things that I will continue to look at on the short term is, are the visuals ready, is the white board ready, with markers, are any supplies ready for lecture or demonstration, as well as any materials needed for lab settings. This sets the tone for how the students perceve me & the course.

  • Preparing early & carefully is very important, things that I will be doing more of is using a check list to keep my on track, in lecture, & will continue to keep a note pad close to make noted for later action.

It is important to provide a valid example of timeliness and feedback to the students in order to hold them accountable to punctuatlity and deadlines.  There is no harm in taking notes as the instructor during class in order to ensure that follow up that was promised to a student in deed takes place.

Understand the importance of having clear and accessible guidlines for the course that are written and provided to the student up front.

Having a clarity about the course content and preparation of the syllabus well in advance is a very important part of the planning. A clear syllabus not only helps the instructor to identifie the goals and objectives of the course, it also gives the students a great deal of ideas about their objectives. picking up good textbooks and formulating your own text is again vital for the success of the achievement of the goals as an instrutor.

Offers us some good keys to organize and schedule the courses so that we can feel safe.

The course syllabus sets the stage for the comfort level of your students. I feel this is achieved on the first day of class. Assisting students in undertsanding the course goals and objectives will promote better student learning.

Be prepared to benefit both the students and yourself.

Overall and foremost is organization. Organization of the text, noteing taking, materials, ordering supplies, noting things throughout the course about students, class, meetings and or materials. The students can tell when they have an instructor who has their act together. Also, emphasizing the importance of undestanding the course syllabus to the students; that it is a contract between you and your students set up for the benefit of the students. Finally, be yourself and enjoy your time teaching.

This unit was very informative on the importance of being prepared.  Preparation helps set the tone for the class.

I'll totaly be referencing the syllabus elements. I've adjusted mine each semester, and everyone's style and fields are so different its difficult to cobble a functional yet unique syllabus. This is a nice, general approach that will help me refine my own syllabi.

Prep for the class, have an agenda, and discuss the agenda and expectations up front, answer questions to clarify agenda.

Spend time beforehand making sure that you are fully prepared.  Have a checklist with you to make sure that you don't miss any important information.  Have a notepad with you so that you can jot down things that need to be taken care of later as they arise in the moment.  This will keep you from struggling to remember everything later.

arrive early to prepare for class. hold students accountable

The syllabus needs to be very detailed and is a contract between student and instructor. get to class before students, learn thier names and keep a check list of what needs to be covered during class.

Preparation before class and also giving students appropriate guidlines and objectives.
