Activity

Active learning may be harder to implement initially though when it takes off this format will engage the adult learning and help make connectiosn to the content.

Active learning keeps the attention of the student and helps make connections with the content.

I appreciate the overview of common mistakes.  I do have an awareness of potential difficulty with holding students accountable.  Knowing this has helped me work on having responses on the ready for difficult situations.  As i practice and prepare I will be better equiped to demonstrate accountability and fair treatment for all.

I appreciate the view on fitting in.  Providing an inclusive environment for all students will support the learning environment.  In addition, it is improtant to reduce opportunities for students to cheat.  Promoting an inclusive environment while protectingthe environment is a great review of ideal learning.

This section has taught new strategies for engaging students.  I think the talking allottment by cards is intersting.  I wonder if it would not only help the talkative students monitor their contribution though would it also encourge the none participative students to use their cards?  It could potentialy help the instructor with a visual que on who to engage.

I appreciate the insight on ice breakers.  As discussed in prior learning sessions, safety and trust are needed for an educational environment.  I believe ice breakers start developing this trust and safety.  Asking students about themselves, helping them learn about others and the instructor are all a part of trust building.

It has been helpful to learn what must been released, what is not, when it is on a registry, and more.  Laws are in place for the student and the institution.

I've learned additional insight about FERPA and how is supports the students and the institution.  Reviewing the example about a student contesting their attendance record was a great demonstration on how FERPA can be utilized to help both parties.

I apprecaite the rules of FERPA.  At times, when following the appropriate guidelines, it is beneficial to share student information though the rules should be followed to do so.  These policies ensure safety for the learner while also holding teachers to a standard ensuring best intent is followed.

FERPA lends hand to a safe and effective learning environment for students.  Protecting privacy can help promote leanring.
