Stressing the Importants of the on line learning

Some students still feel that the instructors are going to still teach all the material, when all of the teaching is done on line. It takes a while for them to adapt.

Helping students connect when they are on different campuses

Creating small projects that 2 or 3 students can do helps them meet and work with each other.  This often breaks the ice and they start interacting with the rest of the students in the course via discussion boads and other applications.

Self- and Peer-assessment

Self- and peer-assessment is a great practice. It is designed to allow students to get involved in the learning and assessment process. What is a good way to assign students in groups so that they can carry out peer-assessment positively?

Individual Emails

It is effective to send individual emails to remind students of what they forgot and how they can do better.  It will improve student engagement. ......

Great information

It is important to keep students engaged during online classes. Make sure everything has a timely manner to be turned in.

Introduce your LMS on Day 1

The LMS can be a scary place. Some LMS platforms like Canvas try to be as intuitive as possible. Others might meet all the technical requirements but they are so 1999. As the teacher, there are few suggestions that might work if you are teaching a first year, lower division class.

1. If your school switched LMS, spend time getting acclimated to the platform THEN teach the students. Speaking from personal experience, if everyone is in the same boat, do not show frustration with the new system or compare it negatively to the old system. There is a reason for… >>>

The module was very informative

Quizzes were informative. The section on this module is critical to learning the online teaching strategies

Testing is a Learning Tool

Frequent, low-stakes or no-stakes testing in the form of games and interatives are a great learning tool.

Very Helpful

I really like this first module, even that I know some of the tools , the combinations of them is very helpful.

Awesome course

Best course so far

Course Reflection

I look forward to using various topics I learned about in this course in my teaching practice, including formative vs. summative assessments, closing the loops, and using peer feedback.

Be specific

Be specific about what type of corrections to submissions you are asking for.  Give examples.

Module

This module has proven very useful to my development as an online educator. Thank you!

wiki

For so long i questioned myself about "wiki". Thinking Wikipidia, etc. Now I can say I know it, becuase I learned it here.

Thank You

Direct communication with students on their level

In my career as an educator I find it equally important to communicate personally as well as professionally. A student is more likely to give more detailed descriptions of their issues to a personably relatable instructor and from that gained information and trust, the instructor can develop the learning platform so the students feels at ease and will easily interact. Students learn at different paces and in various styles, all students should be briefed on this known fact from day one to provide the same level of educational information at each students' particular comprehension level.

Individual Conferences

I have taken the time to create individual conferences to not only meet the students but to give them "positive" feedback and call out something they are doing well!  I have less than 10 students in the class so this will work.  They tend to " glow" and love being recognized for something they didn't think I noticed!  It creates trust.  It does take time and I try to do this around the midterm time when I have assessed them and can give them a shout out.  Positive reinforcement really works.

Communication

I learned how to better communicate with students and will apply my knowledge in and out of the classroom.

STUDENTS

GIVE THEM ALL THE SAME ATTENSION

Teaching Students

Give each student time to accommodate to online learning. Take the time to discover what the student states will be their greatest barrier.

Student Course Evaluations

I recall in my first Online instructional coure I used ONLY student evaluation of the course to modify my next course. Oh boy was my other campus stakeholders upset.
