Activity

Communication is the key word...In person or online people adapt better and feel the caring gentle side of an individual

When working with an online plattform Technology is a must.  Its amazing to see the results on the surveys the students have taken.

Since I began a full online course I kept thinking wow these student are working with great confidence and are really geting assignments done. I kept noticing how they are were more accomplished and very efficient.  So my assesment of the last course proves everything we coverd in this segment.  Ilove it.

What we learned in this chapter and what I have experienced inthe last semester of online teaching went hand in hand.  Although there is always a couple of students who tend to wait till the end to try to catch up, I also made a big discovery.  most of these students seem to be eager to tell you their stories and intereact one on one.  A couple of them would be the first to sign in and the last ones to check out.  These stundents needed and wanted that one on one personal experience.

Not all students will have the knowledge or prior experience of using critical thinking or collaborative learning but with the patience and understanding of an online instructor the knowlege and growth will begin.

I learned that no graded assessment during the first part of the course and positive reinforcement works great.  Also one on one communication thru email or canvas really gives student that bond and help make that connection.

Reminding the students as a classthat there are points lost for every assignment that is submitted late and how this would impact your final grade if work is constantly being turned in late..

I learned that we should refer students as well as get help from our institutions technology center.  I know there are programs and even grants to help pay for the internet service.  Schools haaave laoners for students.  The down side is most help centerss are not open after hours and the students and instructors get fustrated when the technology is not prorperly working .

In active learning I love the fact that you get to share problem solving and role playing it helps retain information easier rather than trying to make someone memorize the information.  I also feel it makes students interact in a more realistic way instead of just typing on a keyboard.

A welcoming first impression will alow students to feel welcomed and that the instructor cares.  It is very rewarding when students open up and ask for help in what ever it is they need.  That trust and bond grows the the rest of the semester.
