Effective Teaching Strategies

Some important take aways I've learned from this module are taking the time to prep for your course and class. First impressions matter and it is important for students to have a respectable view of their instructor especially because you as the instructor serve as a role model for the students and they will most likely take your cue when it comes to preparedness, punctuality, and professionalism. One of the biggest statements that also stood out to me is to never approach your class with an attitude that you are smarter and know better than everyone in that classroom because… >>>

Wisdom

Practice, practice, practice.

We can get better and better by constantly practicing.

ED 106

Utilizing the student engagement tools with verbal and nonverbal cues. Including pauses to monitor and observe the entire class dynamic. It is a constant need to evaluate our students and their struggles or successes.

Best Exam for Students

ED103  Student Learning and Assessment is very useful to my teaching. I have learned that each student is different in terms of reception with information given to them. Knowing individual receptivemess make it easy for instructors to choose which method of teaching to deliver. Different exam method also caters to different type of exams that we want get out of our student. Be it critical thinking or practical skills. I used both intructional powerpoint with pictures and viseos in my method of teaching. I  added group  presentation to  allow participation and group collaboration.

Welcome to class

Students learn best when they are at ease

Assigning Student Groups

Student group assignments have to be carefully and created and balanced. Determining student attributes in the group as far as what he/she brings to the group is important and then allowing the group to interact with one another such as an icebreaker exercise is very important. Monitioring the group as they progress not only keeps them on track, but provides for expeditious feedback from the instructor. Results of group learning can be very hihg when done correctly.

Delivering Course Content

Interesting assessment and very informative. Great information on how to get a class started.

Successful learning

In all the years of being a preceptor, I found having rationales and showing how they apply in everyday life- seems to help bring better results.

Learning

These modules have a lot of interesting information on how to get the students involved. I already use some of their ideas, some work and some don't.

EDU 101

I plan to implement shorter lectures on content and break it up with activities to apply the content to account for the 15-18 minute attention spans.  I also plan to give Kahoot checks for understanding and Knewton Alta quizzes with multiple attempts during a given chapter.

Action plan.

My action plan is to learn as much as I can from my amazing coworkers. They have so much to offer and are so great at what they do! I can't wait to get started.

Instructor

I recently took the course ed101 for instructors. It was very informative and gave me some insight on what to expect from a new class, and my first ever class instructor experience. I learned  that all students learn at different levels, and that it is my job to use our curriculum to keep them interested and to continue to want to learn. In order to do that, I would need to be very organized, have the day's lessons ready, and be early and prepared. This will let students know that I am passionate about being there and wanting them to… >>>

Positivity!

The instructional learning environment for the students plays a vital role with the completion of their coursework and students need to feel confident with the supportive learning site. Students must feel comfortable and as an instructor we must encourage the students to do better!
