surprising the students with some new idea will keep students engaged better in the class.

The discussion on how things can be different halfway through the class was informative.

I learn or it was confirmed that mid way through a course there can be a slump.  This is a time for me as an instructor to revisit my course objectives and class plan.  See am I on track?  Have I told too many stories that I am now behind?  For upcoming presentations mark where I will insert a story so I stay on track.  Ask the students to do a writing of what they have learned so far.  This will demonstrate that the there information that has been learned.  This is also confirmed when they take ATI tests after subjects learned and pass, knowing the information.

It's important to keep in mind that instructors need to recharge just like students.  Mid-semester is a great time to do so.

Using feedback from the students as a tool, is the best way to refocus.

Keep class engaged, motivated and set them up for success.

Enthusiasm and pacing go hand in hand to retain students' engagement.

Avoiding the mid-class slump is crucial. I have employed numerous methods based on enthusiastic tactics and getting a read on students stress levels. I am curious what other instructors have employed to break this slump?

Help students set attainable goals and building rapport are great retention factors.

Vary your approach to material during the class.

REFOCUS

Keep the students interested in the class by breaking up the instructional content is key for students success.

I liked and learned tips from the inclusion of Refocusing for the class when there is a slump .

I have learned from this module that as an instructor you need ti be relatable and engaging with your students. All students must be active in their learning rather it be formal or informal. Instructors need to enthused about the course and its objectives

I enjoyed the REFOCUS tool as a way to get out of the slumps both instructors, students experience now and then.

Focus on the students. Know why they are enrolled in the course. Adult learners have an attention span of 10-15 minutes. Make lessons engaging by altering lecture and activities.

I really liked the idea of storytelling and the crisis event to break up the content and also allow for a glimpse of the real world while keeping the students engaged. Self-check points for both the instructor and the student (mid-way assessments) allow for the opportunity to improve or triage. This was a great module!

The most important part I learned is the rapport we as instructors must create with our students. It is important that the student sees us as someone who they trust, who they can talk to.

good module
