I learned that motivating your students is important to their success in the class.  Teachers should not only serve as a learning resource but they should also serve as a source of support to the students they encounter. 

It's important to keep in mind that instructors need to recharge just like students.  Mid-semester is a great time to do so.

Adults are active learners and younger students tend to be passive learners.  Keep the classroom inviting to the students.  Incorporate fun activities in the lesson.  Check in with the students before each class to gauge their mindset for learning.  

I learned that traditional and nontraditional students have view learning differently and may require different levels of motivations.  The classroom setting should remain a neutral setting that encourages learning for all.
