Christie,

A handbook is used by students and parents alike for a variety of reasons (some of which you have mentioned). It keeps everyone, students and teachers alike to be on the same page. This avoids confusion which can lead to complaints.

This gives the student a lot of valuable information for the school they want to attend. It is always something that they can refer back to if needed.

The catalog provides may needed reference points for the student. Demonstrates the level of professionalism the school is trying to represent and outlines the course requirements that both a student and prospective employee need to understand to make an informed decision.

The catalog is a source of information that a student can continually reference. The catalog covers most topics that are of concern for potential and existing students. The catalog is important to a school employee because it allows them to reference and teach the student about a wide variety of policies, procedures, curriculums and more. Also by delivering the catalog an employee can be sure that the student has been offered a great amount of information in the event that a dispute ever occurs.

It allows the student the ability to understand the expectations the school has for the student and the student understands the expectations they can recieve from the school.

The catalog is a great way of communicating important information to the student, and is a helpful tool for the student to use to be an informed consumer. I am saddened by how many students treat it as just another piece of paper they receive during the enrollment process, but then later are concerned and dismayed when the policies within are applied to them. The catalog is part of the overall agreement about what being a student at your college means. It talks about who we are as a college, what we agree to do for you as a student, how much we will charge for that service, and how we plan to do it. It also outlines what you as a student agree to do in return to earn your credential, both financially but more importantly educationally as you move toward your career.

The catalog is most important because it goes over what is required of the student, the program requirements, course descriptions, school policies, and everything pertaining to the school. It is a great tool to have and to reference with any questions or concerns.

The catalog serves as a way to protect both the student and school employee with laying the groundwork or rules for almost all scenarios that will happen during the student's time enrolled.

catalogs contain the information that is needed for students such as calendars, classes that are required and other important information

Catalogs are valuable to both the students and employees as a resource to use to refer to during their employment and educational experience. A catalog outlines all policies and procedures regarding the students experience. It outlines items such as courses for each program, employee information, chain of command, accreditation information, and student services information.

It includes factual information that a prospective student is to be made aware of in regards to cost, placement, etc.

Catalogs are a tool to be used by staff members to represent the school and the program of interest. Catalogs keep staff members informed on all pertinent information regarding employment rates, graduation rates, and graduation requirements for a certain program. The student can use the catalog as a reference guide to keep them on track when completing their program.

Catalogs are valuable to both the student and the school as it is the document which guides and rules the institution. It contains all the programs and their requirements; it contains valuable information for the student on drops/withdrawals, grades, etc.; it provides the accreditation information; etc.

Catalogs are one of the most, if not the most, important publication at all colleges and universities.

Barbara,

You're right - the catalog is a composite, a factual summary, of everything a school offers. It is crucial, as the primary visual representation of factual information, that it is always accurate, complete and current.

Catalogs are so valuable in the sense that the student can always refer to it to stay on point with what the rules, regulations are. Plus in the event that a student attempts to open a dispute in certain areas, they can be directed to the catalog and verify facts, which is why at my school, Admissions reap, and instructors are encouraged to become familiar with the contents of the called catalog.

A catalog provides a framework for trust. Both the student and the institution's employees have a unbiased and accurate guide to aide them in making decisions, clarifying misconceptions and assist in certain categories of conflict resolution.

The catalog has the information the students need to be informed, educated, and to make critical decisions about the school. The student will know the policies and procedures of the school. Everything should be accurately documented in the catalog so the students can stay informed about the needed information about the school.

The catalog is valuable to the students AND school employees because the y contain the necessary information to make informed decisions. The catalog is the written policies of the school. They provide pertinent information on the school's policies and how they effect the student. They also provide guidelines on how the school behaves in a particular situation.

The catalog is valuable to staff and student because it is a guidebook to the school. It allows a staff member to refer back to policies/procedures. As a student or prospective student, it allows them insight to how the school is ran and what is expected of them.
