The role of technology is trending upwards, it's always going to be changing. I actually like the changes but I know some don't. It's actually made my charting quicker and also if medical terminology is built in, it helps with autocorrect. It's important to always engage in it when something new is being introduced so that with continued use it gets better.
Advance/functioning technology and frequent instructor interactions are the gold standards for quality education delivery. Staying abreast of education trends by visiting sites such as EdSurge and OLC, plus using video replies instead of text replies with students will ensure I deliver a real feel to my online presence in the course.
I have learned that when teaching an online course, it's essential to welcome students with an introductory video. It is also important to communicate timely manner.
Comment on Tom Hayes's post: My hero!
I actually now have listed the new resources discovered in this module as material for me to research for future utilization and effective navigation.
Personally I prefer on-campus learning for engagement. It is easier to build those connections with students than in online learning, however I do understand it's benefits. For this reason, utilizing strategies to encourage good TMC is important. The retention rate may increase and students may not reap the full benefits of their online education
It is important to apply new programs to be interactive. I love Kahoot!!
I haven't started teaching, let alone on line. So this was good for me so when I start I have a better understanding of how to use TMC.
I have learned that when teaching an online course it is important to welcome your class with an online video and communicate quickly and do frequent individualized video meets to help maintain social presence.
Sharpening online communication and verbiage is essential in a professional and instructional setting. Misinterpretation and tone can be a problem for students to faculty and vice versa. Communication style and tone will need to be set by the instructor and follow up by example.
In this module I learned about. TMC.I also was pleased to see that I do some of the techniques currently. I am all about ensuring the students are successful. This is very important to me and the students have stated how much they appreciate what I do for them.
When I think of the future, I can see technology taking over the school systems of the future. As far as human interaction goes....it seems a little scary.
The Role of Technology I Origin: EL 201
This module informs us about the various forms of communication, such as instant live chats in virtual classes. Many forms of communication on a desktop, laptop, iPad, and/or cellphone. The variety of options is sure to suit the virtual student. Sometimes students take a collaborative approach in the virtual classes I have instructed. Some students use their iPad to interact in class discussions, and a laptop to be on camera.
Familiarizing and humanizing yourself to your students is a useful if not crucial first step in the online learning environment and technology can help that with introductory videos
When introducing myself and a new course, I am sure to include something personal (not too personal) that will get their attention. Lead with what they will have to present after I'm done with my introduction.
I really like the idea of an introductory video, letting students see and hear me as a real person before the beginning of a course. I think this will help students feel comfortable coming to me with questions/concerns.
I have found a mix of students' knowledge of technology. Many are very savvy about technology and what it can do, while others are afraid of it. Many "older" students have not kept up with the newer trends. As an instructor, I try to use technology that is user-friendly to all students, not just some.

Technology in this day and age is important in connecting and getting work done quick.
Technology allows people to gather from all sorts of time zones and communicate effectively. Mobile devices are the most preferred form of technology. Technologic difficulties include service such as signal interrupting meetings and levels of professionalism can be altered during online meetings.
