Though I prefer synchronous learning to asynchronous, I do see the advantages and disadvantages to both techniques. I also see the similarities between the two methods: keeping students engaged and active is very important.
Both synchronous and asynchronous learning methods are important ways to teach your students. The first is where everyone is doing the same thing at the same time, and the second is more of a learn at your own time and pace.
The differences between synchronous and asynchronous courses lie in the setup the institution wishes to implement; having participants across different time zones necessitates an asynchronous approach, whereas a shared timeframe for activities requires a synchronous one. Crucially, communication regarding course updates and objectives must remain clear, and information should be centralized; furthermore, the course design must be intuitive to maximize student engagement and ensure learning objectives are met.

Knowing when and how to use asynchronous teaching will ensure that the information presented in the course will be properly retained.
They are both good methods when used properly together can really enhance the learning experience

In this module I learned that asynchronous and synchronous learning approaches offer valuable opportunities for student learning. Sites like zoom and google classroom can make asynchronous learning easier to manage and facilitate.

In contrast, synchronous learning brings students together in real time, creating opportunities for immediate interaction, peer-to-peer discussions, and collaborative learning experiences.
In this module, I learned more about the differences between synchronous and asynchronous learning. Synchronous learning allows students and instructors to interact in real time through tools such as Zoom, while asynchronous learning gives students the flexibility to complete coursework on their own schedule.
As an online mathematics instructor, I see the value in both approaches. I plan to continue using asynchronous tools such as Canvas, ALEKS, and recorded videos to provide students with flexibility and opportunities to learn at their own pace. At the same time, I will continue offering synchronous Zoom sessions where students can ask questions and receive immediate feedback. Combining both methods can help support different learning styles and student needs.
I learned that a class could run either asynchronous or synchronous but for an online class it should have both. As everybody should have the same deadline which makes it synchronous but they have asynchronous about getting to that deadline line
