If you look at marketing stategies that a in place online i.e.(Amozon, netflix, etc.) providing feedback is the staple to the success of companies understanding the wants and needs of the consumer. Feedback is vital to deliver content to students for them to be successful once they have successfully completed the course, training etc.. Keeping them engaged in course content can be difficult but, by providing feedback you get to know the students at a personal level, it also allows them to see that you as the instructor is making every effort to provide them with the best education possible.
I'm surprised to see that the course doesn't encourage synchronous discussions. That may be the most challenging part of online teaching for me. I wish I understood why this is not the recommended method.

For teaching content use group discussion opportunities and also provide students the opportunity to have one-on-one time with the teacher. Keep all feedback as positive as possible.
I have leaned that asynchronous meetings are best because students can all learn from one another in that instance. Synchronous meetings are needed only for one on one conversations. Tone is very hard to understand when looking at letters instead of a persons face in real time. We can protect against misunderstandings in tone by using colors, boldings and acronyms to help others get a feeling for what is being said.
Everyone likes and needs feedback, especially students. By providing feedback to synchronous and asynchronous interactions with students, they feel supported and motivated. This is evident in a better overall performance.
the number one thing that I learned is that I was completly wrong about what I thought about discussion groups. :)
it has been a real struggle to transition from a classsroom where EVERYONE is particiapting at once to needing to wait for a students response toa question later at night. this has been unsettling in many ways, bu ti learn now that it can still be considered constructive and beneficial to the entire classroom
I am aware that I began this online course as a dependent learner but now am more of a participant. This came from being aware of the different types of online learners.

It's important to know a little about each student's learning style to help with discussion. Important to know the limits of synchronous meetings.
This must be an older course because it doesn't take into account that we use Zoom or other video conferencing software to deliver instruction. Therefore, the parts about a synchonous course taking part via "chat" is not accurate.
The differences and role asynchronous and synchronous play in online learning. I am going to be more thoughtful in my development to increase student participation.
In this module, I learned that there are different learning styles. As an e-learning instructor, I should be able to identify the students early in the course and this is helpful because I can foster participation from all students by creating small groups to prevent intimidation and coordinate activities where reluctant learners are lured to participate.
This module was a good reminder of how important it is to effectively communicate and provide feedback in the e-learning environment.
