Communication essentials

Review the three methods of communication: body expression . tone of voice , words,

And applicability techniques : prepare, write the message, verify consequences, finally perfect.

Images can also communicate  messages.

I use them in  the admissions process.

It is important to be able to make sure that you can verify access and are able to contact support prior to the start of the course.

The best practices for online courses include several aspects. Understanding the CMS and how it works is a key element to understand. This includes everything from the class roster, the ability to interact with students effectively, and moderate discussions from lessons. It is also a good idea to know how to support your students by understanding the software and hardware needs to access the CMS, and also how to contact Tech Support.

While I've already been teaching online for quite a while, I found the information regarding all of the skills and proficiencies in dealing with the virtual format, especially in terms of understanding and navigating the Course Management System, very helpful. I also appreciated the idea of trying to access all of the online resources in the same way the students will have to in order to better help them if they have issues accessing anything.

It is important to have a cohesive system consisting of course management, effective content delivery and a support system to help remedy issues when they arise whether technical or content related.

understanding the impact of the different ways to communicate is important. All the methods have pros and cons to them.

A full understanding of the course and delivery methods of the material is essential to having a good learning outcome for the student - knowing how to handle unexpected issues goes hand in hand with this sentiment. Knowing what to do when things go right and wrong will make you a better online teacher.

I learned that all online course material needs to be accessible at the start of the course.

We need to  present the information through interactive learning to help the content stick with the student better. Also make sure you know your online platform very well before beginning a class with a student so you can help navigate and answer any questions about the CMS they may have to make them feel more confident which will lead to better comprehension and learning.

From this module I have taken away that in order to successfully help the students in your courses an instructor must first be competent in the inner workings of the program itself. Your confidence in the systems will then translate into your ability to assist student with their technology needs. This start in the process will help build the student's confidence in you and confidence in being successful in the course.

It's important that the course structure is consistent across courses and makes sense to the students.

There are differences in quality of the online platforms and coursework. Students tend to learn better when they are able to look at the online coursework and also have an instructor who is readily available to answer questions/concerns they might have.

For me, some the most important aspect of an online course is to be prepared, have the learning modules ready, and know the course material. In addition, be available to answer questions, either during office hours or through email in a timely manner. Also, let the students know what is expected of them and the deadlines for submission.

I learned that an instructor must ensure all components of the CMS are working to avoid student frustration. Since I have taught predominantly in person, I did not consider the importance of double checking the access to and proper functioning of learning modules.

In reviewing the Online Teaching Techniques I found that comprehensive review course structure, course foundation,  course content, and course delivery are all main techniques needed in online teaching.

Its incredible how body language can be expressed over emotions and words.  It's a powerful way to deliver.

Online instructor has various ways of delivering instruction & how to effectively relay the information to the students.

It is very important to know the tools used in online courses, to make students fell safe and accompanied, you have to make the courses interactive to maintain attention and you always have to have clear objetives and goals of what you want to achieve at the end of the course

What I took away from this section on Course Delivery is that I need to become comfortable with the methods and expectations of my institution and students before I can/should make any revisions.

I think this is a great tool with basic explanation and understanding of diffrent types of communications and how they are perceived. In the end, is best to be prepared and know how to best communicate something, and how, to better emit a message.
