It is important to understand your students and their learning styles to better deliver content in various ways. 

I was an electrician for over 20 years before deciding to teach for a few years to give back to the trade. That was 17 years ago. I laugh when I think back to when I was spitting out everything I know hoping most of it sticks. It took me a few years to find the special balance to showing what you know and showing how I got there. I love watching students thrive from what they learned. I feel that I got people jobs that they turned into careers. Teaching takes a special skill you don't learn in a day a week or a year. I'm hoping I finally got it right.

How do you handle an adult student that is distracted and often carrying a conversation on the phone through texting.

Or watching a video on the phone and giggling to himself.  

He has been reminded numerous times that the phone is not allowed during class, but refuses to adhere to the rules.

What is the adult learning theory?

I find this course training very helpful on how to apply different styles of learning that instructors can utilized to improve students learning and understanding of the material.  I learned to be myself, not attempt used same teaching style of other instructors, but you can learn techniques from those instructors and applying them with your own teaching style to improve areas that have room for improvement.  Also, the benefits of creating a professional developing plan.

Not really sure how everyone engages with their students but  I like teaching in different styles, visual and auditory .

How do you use music in the classroom?  I instruct in a diploma-granting program and I'm always looking for new ideas.  I have played a music video that was on topic for the subject matter I was teaching.  It was for fun and my intent was to spice up my lecture a bit.  I'd love to hear any suggestions on how music is used to help deliver information for both kinesthetic and auditory learners (as per the sensory modalities chapter).  

I remember the 5 p's it helps me get organized and plan my schedule for class.

How do you manage a classroom with vastly different speeds of learning?  What is the balance between, am I going too fast for my slower learners and am I going to slow for my quicker learners? 

Do you find students to self-diagnose more often than to seek a professional diagnosis?

How long do you have wait to do second retake after failing twice?

Class should stay interesting and motivating.

I feel that this was great information covered.  I have been instructing for some years now, but it is always good to have a refresher.

I learned in this module that in order to develop as an instructor I have to take into account the different components. Identifying my teaching style and finding my strengths and building on those will make me a great instructor that leads by example, while conveying the concepts and skills to the students.
