Planning Impactful lessons requires empathy, energy and enthusiasm. It is important to do a check in at the beginning on the  emotional state of the learner and if they are able to grasp all the contents. The teacher should be able to adjust the content to meet the learning needs.

It's a good approach to use the "I" language as the module states it gets the student's attention and it's less confrontational. It is also a great idea to have the students actively involved in the development and the review of the school policies, this should also help with a high level of compliance.

While the focus here is in the classroom setting, as a clinical instructor the most rewarding part of this experience is to see the students strive in their clinical placement and reaching their full potential. Students are often received with lots of fear of the unknown, I've always created a friendly and nurturing environment. Provide 1:1 timely evaluations to assess their skills, areas of strength and areas requiring improvement. My approach is non-judgemental and I am always available to support their needs.

Students are actively involved in their learning and demonstrates a better understanding of the content. The students are able to interact with the instructors / ask questions and the instructor can also track the student's progress.

Questioning is a test of the student's knowledge base and I appreciate the tactful approach when a student responds incorrectly.

The Art of Questioning / Questions must be:

  1. Appropriate level
  2. Appropriate type
  3. Should be worded properly

It is important to conduct a survey at the start of the class to understand the different learning styles. It is also important to have awareness of my own learning style and the importance of delivering the teaching material to meet the different learning styles of the students.
