As we have often heard, you only get one chance to make a "first impression" don't waste the opportunity.

Purposeful prior planning prevents poor performance. Cannot be emphasized enough. 

Effective teaching is about more than just presenting information well. You also need to model the type of person you want your students to see. Be professional at all times.
