The important of critical thinking and its consequences; and how to apply it as a Professor.

I Learned that critical thinking is great Resourceful way to guide future professionals to exceed an open-minded on an everyday basis problem solving.

I had never heard of a K-W-L chart...interesting way to engage students and begin discussions.

I believe this section is encouraging instructors to get the students talking. Reflection on their own activities and activities of peers is a valuable way to analyze different situations and points of view.

I learned that critical thinking means breaking problems down, questioning assumptions, and evaluating solutions before acting. I plan to apply this at work by focusing on root causes instead of quick fixes, and in daily life by pausing to reflect before making decisions.

Critical thinking is a great tool for identifying each individual student understanding of the course. 

Critical thinking involves objectively analyzing and evaluating information to form a well-reasoned judgement or decision.

Students have to have an environment conducive to learning so that they can feel comfortable to express themselves and participate in their learning.   Thinking is a skill that they will use constantly for as long as they choose to be a nurse.

dont give solutions, let them think. Ask questions

I learned some new tools to encourage critical thinking. 

Critical thinking skills are not always something that is well-developed in students. You have to teach them to have an open mind so they can become comfortable with the thought of trying something new and digging deeper.

I learned the value in silence.  After a lecture, questions could be asked about aspects of components functionality and after a silence to force more critical thinking, they could be discussed. 

I learned some new tools to encourage critical thinking. 

I agree, Chanda. Not all students come in with strong critical thinking skills, so it’s important to create assignments that gradually build them up. Scaffolding and real-world examples can really help students see the value in developing these skills.

Some students may be resistant to learning critical thinking skills so helping them to develop them is essential. Some students may have developed these skills while others may not. Providing assignments that will help them in this area can be effective. 

In this module, I have learned the 6 steps of effective thinking and problem solving. I plan to use written dialogue/ case studies and K-W-L charts to help students to get a better understanding of the information being taught.

The importance of creating a collaborative environment where students can learn and put into practice critical thinking skills using various methods, such as real-life scenarios, K-W-L, Bloom's Taxonomy.

Teaching students in a non-biased environment facilitates effective learning.
