I have never used K-W-L charts before and I think they would be a great activity before a new topic is introduced with K-W and then adding the third L for after discussions.  I also like the  Silence activity and I am going to use both in my classes.  I also learned that teaching a subject isn't enough, the students need to learn how to develop and have a deeper understanding of the topic with their critical thinking skills. Students need help in developing those critical thinking skills. Any time we can get our students to go beyond the subject… >>>
