Students probably have a greater grasp on technology today.  They just need to be able to use technology in an effective way.  Effective uses also need to be taught so students use technology to enhance their environment.  Technology is just a part of what makes someone effective in their job. They need  to be able to develop all of the skills that are necessary for that.  Technology tools and applications can be helpful on that road.

Teamwork is an essential part of any work environment whether it is in a classroom or the work place.  When using teambuilding skills, students need to focus on working together positively as a team and bring out the best in each other and the best skills each team member has to offer.  It needs to be a place where everyone can grow and be successful.

Communication is key in al facets of life.  Whether it is Verbal or Written it needs to be clear and concise.  There are advantages to both.  With Verbal communication, you get that instant feedback and can move forward more quickly.  Written communication can be used when clarification is necessary,  you can revise and make sure that the content is clear.  In the classroom communication needs to be worked on on a daily basis.  The better our students get at communication, the more effective they will be.

I have never used K-W-L charts before and I think they would be a great activity before a new topic is introduced with K-W and then adding the third L for after discussions.  I also like the  Silence activity and I am going to use both in my classes.  I also learned that teaching a subject isn't enough, the students need to learn how to develop and have a deeper understanding of the topic with their critical thinking skills.
