Post what you've learned about this topic and how you intend to apply it. Feel free to post questions and comments too.

Critical thinking is a very important skill for employees in their professional performance and a part of a work team for problem-solving; therefore,  it is necessary to foster it in students, taking into account strategies such as Bloom's Taxonomy.

Critical thinking skills are very important in the job market. Being able to work through problems is an important skill for students to practice.

Although critical thinking skills are vital, students must still maintain and have a standard baseline knowledge to excel.

I had never heard of the KWL charts, I believe it would be a great way to get conversations started and bring the students together in an engaging format. I have learned you need to not only teach the subject but teach the student how to understand and rationalize things before they speak out loud.

I had not considered the collaborative aspect of critical thinking. I can see how it applies to the workplace, like convincing leaders to move forward with a direction or decision. This can require walking leaders through the method of reaching a conclusion. Taking a collaborative approach in the classroom can build student confidence by sharing the weight of the task with other students.

I believe that critical thinking develops when we ourselves understand the topics being taught. I find that giving examples of real life situations, or based on what the students are learning, help facilitate "critical thinking".

From this i feel that  working with students in class having them compete with each other from this i can tell if they are really learning the  information that is being taught.

I have never used K-W-L charts before and I think they would be a great activity before a new topic is introduced with K-W and then adding the third L for after discussions.  I also like the  Silence activity and I am going to use both in my classes.  I also learned that teaching a subject isn't enough, the students need to learn how to develop and have a deeper understanding of the topic with their critical thinking skills. Students need help in developing those critical thinking skills. Any time we can get our students to go beyond the subject and think will be advantageous for them.

K-W-L Charts

Critical thinking is essential in the medical field. As instructors, we should incorporate it into daily teaching to help students develop a deeper understanding of how to provide the highest quality patient care within their scope of practice.

Planning on giving students for assignments to encourage brainstorming and giving them the resources to organize their thoughts structurally.

I learned new skills concerning the steps required for effective problem solving

Critical thinking and problem solving is essential in everyday life skills.

Very informative and comprehensive.

I think all this theme can be summarized in this quote I like: “The essence of the independent mind lies not in what it thinks, but in how it thinks.” – Christopher Hitchens

The important of critical thinking and its consequences; and how to apply it as a Professor.

I Learned that critical thinking is great Resourceful way to guide future professionals to exceed an open-minded on an everyday basis problem solving.

I had never heard of a K-W-L chart...interesting way to engage students and begin discussions.

I believe this section is encouraging instructors to get the students talking. Reflection on their own activities and activities of peers is a valuable way to analyze different situations and points of view.
