I found this was an excellent chapter in the training. I use these strategies in course design consistently. Specifically, I find project-based learning where authentic assessment and outcomes are communicated to students at the outset is effective. Communicating the relevance of a project is done in two ways: the first is through an informative video from the instructor where the relevance and expectations are clearly communicated, and the second is with clear text. I find the instructor can communicate industry use and relevance in a way that connects with students and is less cumbersome to absorb than text. The specific outcome and what precisely students will do is communicated with text.
I would add one key strategy to this chapter; scaffolding. I find that introducing individual skills to students with low stakes assignments and then designing projects where these skills are synthesized as high stakes projects is effective.
biggest take away is definitely ….When ideas are valued, students are empowered in the process. We can all remember teachers who made us feel inadequate and we can also remember teachers who made us feel valued in the learning process.
I have learned that differentiation is so important to meet all student needs. I also learned the importance of the 3 C's. Portfolios are a great tool to use to document student performance that I plan to use with all my classes.
A portfolio assessment is new to me - I like how the student has more control over what they choose to submit. That sounds like it would encourage them to be intentional and take more pride in what they include.

Maximizing Student Output in a course is dynamic and often relies on setting outcome forward at the beginning a class and working backwards. Student who know the expected outcome perform towards the outcome better.
I learned how important is mobile communication for today's students and how to incorpotate it into online teaching.

Creating ways for students to interact with each other is important. Starting with the end in mind when planning a lesson is the besst. You can develop activites that support student learning outcomes that allow them to showcase their learning. a portfolio is a good way of assessing content knowledge because it allows studens to choose their best work for the final grading process.
Holistic Approach is a better assessment tool than a final exam. This gives the instructor the true "picture" of what a student has learned.
Use of end based ideas in mind help us to create our instruction. This helps us work from the end of our concept back to the begining so we know what the end knowledge will be. We also found out that portfolios can be used to assess and display the students knowledge of the topic.
The use of portfolios should be strongly encouraged, especially when you have students seeking a career in healthcare. There are so many items to maintain and organize which makes portfolios ideal for my students. I also deal a lot with accreditation and, for site visits, it is vital that I be able to shown work products for all of my students.

This forum has enlightened my on the benefits interactive white boards, wikis and blogs as well as tablets to encourage student collaboration and development of content themes and a way to promote student involvement. I will incorporate the mobility concept within my class, which will allow for organized and continuous learning.
