Retention strategies are needed to ensure positive student outcomes. Although budget constraints exist, it is important to adopt a plan for engaging students in the class. This course reiterated the need to focus on those strategies and to also partner with the student to ensure that they are advocating for themselves.

I am a huge fan of virtual meetings because it allows students the opportunity to ask questions and creates a sense of community.

This was a great reiteration of the use of technology in the online environment. It helps to stay mindful of the benefits of using technology and the impact on student outcomes.

Online learning has become a valid choice for individuals to purse their education. However, much work is needed to fill the gaps that exist with traditional learning.

Reiteration of the need to develop working alliances with students and the 2 ways in which you can effectively achieve this goal.

This learning has allowed me the opportunity to change the way that I think about assessments. Assessments should be student driven and focus on gleaning information about what the student has learned.

I understand more about portfolio assessment and the its importance in education. Students benefit from a mixture of methods for assessment.

One of the most important topics was inclusion. Inclusion is key to ensure that content fosters an environment of learning in the online platform. It helps to ensure that various methods are used to ensure that all students feel as if they are part of the class.

In order to reach all learners, it is important to include dynamic learning opportunities. One of my takeaways is understanding that final exams do not have to be in the form of multiple choice, etc.

Mixed reality is also a great idea for incorporating information into the classroom. As the technology becomes more affordable and prominent, I do see how it can be useful in the classroom setting.
