I had no idea of the timeline for online courses. Recognizing they were first called "correspodences" and now we are coining the phrase "e-learning" environment.

Instructional content and supporting information must now be seen as “connective” rather than prescriptive.  Ilove the portfolios! I have used this in the past with online courses and it has been a very positive experience for me and the students.

One of the challenges I face with on-line learning is how to handle personal, disruptive communication, as well as negativity in discussion forums.  How do you as an instructor address this issue?

The importance of communication via email or chats as well as recognizing the value of the code of conduct and how to reinforce, if needed.

One of the best resources for a student within the course (other than the instructor) is the library.  Students can gather critical information about discussion topics as well as how to communicate in a discussion forum with APA (as necessary).

Reviewing this modules re-inforces the difference between synchronous and asynchronous courses.  Challenges with asynchronous include different time zones and different learning styles as well as participation.

This module also reinforces the importance of giving feedback that is motivational and encourages confidence.

My action plan to be successful in the classroom is:

1.  Review course content, set-up, prepare, and post biography.  The biggest challenge with be becoming more comfortalbe with the LMS.  A wise educator once told me, "Begin with the end in mind."  This - is my best practice for me with any course.

E-learning becomes with structure and organization of the course.

Students learn best online when they feel they are supported,  have one-on-one interactions, and the instructor becomes more personal with completing a thorough biography/picture on the course.

The reinfocement of structure and organization to the course in a linear fashion.  Additionally, what can lead a student to frustration and potentially not be successful in a course for reasons such as: disorganization of the course and lack of understanding of technology or how to navigate the course.
