I believe in rewarding students for their efforts, ut if some students consistently come to class late, it would not be a good thing to keep rewarding those late students. Although there are circumstances beyond one's control, students must be reminded that they are being trained for a chosen future career and adapting to specific time management is the cornerstone of keeping a job when hired.

What I am finding with the younger generations is a craving for old-fashioned principles, such as teacher - student relationships and human interaction. Technology is a tool.

Integrating technology into teaching is crucial, as today’s students are digital natives who anticipate its use in the classroom

It is very important to implement technology into your lessons because that's what the younger students will be expecting because that's what they grew up with.

Comment on Mellisa Fish's post: Since I can remember Junior High School and the first Apple computer I knew that technology would impact the lives of us all. But only at the time computers as we may have experienced were more for learning how to write code and mostly for those who could afford them. Because todays computers come in the version of the latest iphones or other available phone/computers its become so mainstream even children have access to them. My point if technology while frightening as it can be for some crossing that barrier is more often than not a worthwhile effort.

So from the lesson the flipped classroom is a way to approach student engagement they will in turn bring into the classroom their experiences learned outside of the classroom setting. It allows the instructor to more or less give students real-life application as it is achieved in the real-world. Thereby, adding the value from the course with respect to the enrichment of the student career perspective.

It is very important to incorparate technology into your lessons because thats what the younger students will be expecting because thats what they grew up with.

Leveraging technology for student success through the flipped classroom model is an application that many utilize today. Pre-recorded lectures organized in online platforms and additional technology-based applications create a learning environment where students take on a proactive role accessing additional resources outside of the classroom. Learning environment continues outside of the classroom. Great way to continuously build motivational strategies to engage students outside of the classroom.

It is important to let students know what is expected of them and those expectations need to be clear to the students.

Also, adjusting our teaching styles based on student preferences.

Technology can enhance a lesson if used properly.

By giving students choices can improve attitude and involvement in the course.

Being an adult educator, the personal responsibilities of the students (work, children, spouses) definitely are increased to those of a young student. Providing choice and alternate methods of receiving marks inside and outside of the classroom is incredibly important for their success.

Giving students choices can create greater involvement.

Even though I know it's true. Our students are attached to technology and it's a great to put that to use in the classroom as a learning tool!

In this part of the module, I was fascinated with 2 of the topics - flipped classroom & the different ways of providing students with a sense of control.  With regards to flipped classroom - this means more work for the instructor to prepare the content & email to students ahead of time.  However, the great benefit is that there can be time for students to read & think about the content; which in turn will foster further synthesis, analysis & group discussion during classroom session.  With regards to providing students a sense of control - this will promote their buy in and increase their motivation to attend class.

It's important to give students choices so that they feel a sense of control.

Students need a clear understanding of what will be expected of them as well as knowing exactly how they will be accessed. Technology in the classroom is a must have.

I like the idea of using the flipped classroom technique more often. Also the use of discussion boards within our LMS on current subjects related to the course objectives might be of use. Connecting with the Net Generation when you are a Baby Boomer can sometimes be challenging for the instructor but it helps a lot to have children in that generation :)

Incorporating technology in the classroom is vital because as these students graduate and hit their careers they will want/need to be well diverse in new technologies.

Understanding the differences in the generations is a fascinating concept. It reminds me of a story my sister (who is a missionary in Uganda) told of a game of charades with some Ugandan children.  One boy had to get the others to guess the word "phone". While those in my generation would probably do something like hold their hand to their face with their thumb and pinky out, mimicking talking on a telephone, this Ugandan boy held out his open palm and with the index finger on the other hand began making swiping gestures! Quite a contrast, and it illustrates the differences in the Net generation and previous generations.
