Experience is your best tool but don’t be too closed minded to learn from a student
From this module, I have learned about the importance of modeling professional behavior in various forms (dress/appearance, language, timeliness, etc). Additionally, I have learned the importance of creating a plan, and constantly working on self-development as an instructor/classroom leader.
This module was very informative. It gives the instructor strategies to use in the classroom, so as to be better prepared when teaching.
New instructors develop within 3 roles which includes Model, Manager, and Motivator, & components of Modeling include Dress, langrage, Conduct, Time, Leadership, & Confidence.
Lead by example, instructors should have a professional development plan that will assist in improving knowledge ,skills and professionalism.
Lead by example and remember you are not the smartest person in the room

Hi Raquel, thank you for your post. I complete agree with you - to lead by example. There is a hypocritical saying that I hear often that says, "Do as I say, not as I do." That saying prompts me to evaluate my own conduct with others, whether it is within my family setting or workplace.
Being an instructor is more than just teaching students a course. It involves modeling professionalism, planning ahead classroom time, and to motivate students to success. Modeling professionalism includes displaying appropriate behaviors, appropriate attire and proper conduct in and out of the classroom. Planning ahead involves being prepared with the course content, classroom organization and developing skills to help manage students' learning a success. To motivate students involves providing the students positive reinforcement and feedback.
The essential roles of a teacher and the competencies required to be a successful as an instructor in an educational institution. We must recognize the different roles as instructors' we play in the educational process.
I appreciated the video from Harvard about arriving early to class to engage with the students so show that I really care about them as individuals.
Know your subject well, present it in a way that is professional but also engaging, and never act as though you are the smartest person in the room.
This model was a great reminder of how to present yourself to students. Making sure to be a professional, motivate your students, and be excited about the subject being taught were the areas that stood out the most to me.

To be the best instructor I can be, there are a few necessities I need to implement: Planning and Preparation, being a model, manager, and motivator and lastly, creating and maintaining a positive role as a result of the 5 C's... Credible, Candid, Compassionate, Committed, and Clear.
It is important to maintain professionalism during interactions and teaching.
As in instructor we are models of professionalism and are to lead by example. It is also important to continue to grow professionally.
To be a successful instructor, I must be professional and lead by example as a role model plus encouraging and supporting the students as a motivator.
We can always improve our teaching skills. Set goals and create a plan of actions of what skills we are needing and wanting to improve. If we are not excited about the subject we are teaching how do we expect our students to become excited. We are the students role models, manager and motivator.

I have learend how to be a good teacher by giving all knowledge and skill i have and how to act with the student and try to help them and try to explain to them and show them correct way to do their project and encourage them if they do not succeed the first time they should try a gain and they should be honest and patient and how i have to improve my way of teaching for the best and i have to solicit to others and to teach the students how to be disciplinarian and how to be a leader in the classroom and be on time because they will get these impression from me in the future.
