Activity

I am excited to encourage my adult learners to develop critical thinking skills by showing them examples of how critical thinking looks like on the job (as nurses).

The biggest takeaway for me is not getting sucked into students' resentments.  Listen, offer sympathy if needed, but remain neutral.  I think this will help me a lot.

After this course, I plan to put much more time and effort into my lectures ahead of time and incorporate more variety, while balancing retaining some predictability so students stay comfortable.

I really appreciate seeing how important it is to connect with students on a human level and learn things about them to strengthen connections

Having a checklist of things I need to get through in class.

My takeaways:

  • Don't try to be smarter than the students. Humility is key.
  • Dress and act as professional as possible. No cursing.
  • Have students use new knowledge ASAP to drive motivation.
  • Arrive to class early and be prepared to start on time.
