This module enforced the belief that we influence student success through professionalism, and intentional teaching practices. We are leaders and mentors.

This module helped me better understand the importance of intentional planning, clear expectations, and active student engagement in effective instruction. I learned how instructor presence, organization, and communication set the tone for learning. I plan to apply these concepts by preparing more structured lessons, clearly outlining objectives, and using varied teaching strategies to engage different learning styles. These approaches will help create a more supportive, interactive, and productive learning environment for my students.

Comment on Emily Pearson's post:  Modeling professionalism  is an expected behavior.  Having the knowledge of subject that is taught by me , and competence eo enhance knowledge of resources. as an Instructor, i must have these under my belt and practice daily .

Modeling professionalism by being on time, greeting students as they enter the classroom and also by being organized and ready to start.

Giving students confidence by helping them improve in progress. Also keeping a profession demeanor will show them how to carry themselves in the field.

I've learned to model soft skills to help students prepare for success in their professions.

Preparation and professionalism are keys as well as constantly striving to be up to date in terms of participating in continuing educational courses in the areas you are teaching.

I'm being reminded of SMART goals, soft skills, and student engagement.

I am enjoying the content and the reminders about how to better represent Casa Loma College and about setting good examples for my students.  Many great reminders!

So far, this material has reinforced my understanding of the importance of being enthusiastic and prepared regarding my topic and my interactions with students and peers. The importance of modeling the expected behavior is probably my biggest takeaway. It reminds me of a saying I once heard and often repeat: "A leader leads by example, whether they intend to or not." As educators, we are leaders, so modeling the way is an important element of our success.

Great module! My take-away is that I will collect feedback and input on my teaching methods in theory and lab courses beyond course evaluations to allow for improvement and adjustments along the way.

To Model,Manage,and Motivate.

To appear professional in all phases ,while being completely relatable also.

Dress,Language,Conduct,Leadership and Confidence are all a part of being a great instructor.

The module defines, educates, and evaluates conduct in the classroom as well as outside the classroom. It also gives guidance on how to ensure content and self evaluation in the instruction of materials .Also how to engage your audience to provide a positive and productive learning environment.

In this module, I learned how social media and technology can be leveraged to enhance teaching and learning. I now understand that these tools are not just for communication or engagement—they can actively support collaboration, personalized learning, and access to diverse resources. For example, platforms like discussion forums, educational apps, and social media groups can create interactive spaces where students share ideas, ask questions, and receive immediate feedback.

I intend to apply these strategies by integrating digital tools into my lessons, encouraging students to participate in online discussions, and using technology to provide supplementary materials and interactive activities. By thoughtfully combining traditional teaching with digital resources, I hope to increase student engagement, foster critical thinking, and make learning more accessible and dynamic.

I’m also excited to see how my peers are using these tools in their own settings to inspire new approaches in my teaching practice.

I will apply it to how I carry myself and how I speak to my students. By developing my professional plan, I can stay abreast of educational trends and skills.

Most important three factors of success in teaching that I learned in this course are:  Being prepared, Looking professional and Motivating students

Developing as an effective instructor has shown me that teaching is not just delivering information, but intentionally supporting how students learn. One key strategy I value is clear structure and scaffolding, which helps students understand expectations and build confidence as content becomes more complex. Breaking lessons into manageable steps allows learners to stay engaged and reduces anxiety, especially in skills-based or rigorous courses.

I have also learned the importance of active learning, such as case studies, guided practice, and low-stakes quizzes. These strategies encourage critical thinking and allow students to apply knowledge rather than memorize information. Technology has also become an essential tool; using learning management systems and interactive activities promotes accountability and ensures students master content before moving forward.

As I continue developing as an instructor, I plan to apply these strategies by reflecting on student outcomes, seeking feedback, and adapting my teaching methods. Creating a supportive, structured, and engaging learning environment remains central to my approach.

I've learned techniques on how to maintain professionalism while showing up for my students in a positive way. Making sure I motivate them and stay organized to give them the best education and opportunity for growth.

Model professionalism in appearance, behavior, oral and written communication.

Instructions need to be competent in three major areas .

  1. technical having the knowledge of the subject matter and the skills involved in its application.
  2. professional competence to enhance your knowledge of resources that are available to you
  3. personal competence is the ability to project one’s personality into the instructional settings to bring about maximum learning opportunities.                                                               As an educator I intend to use these competences regularly in the classroom setting.
