Technical Standards

As a career school I feel it is our responsibility to advise students of technical standards that are required in the career of their choice. For example, a deaf student would not be a wise applicant for a vascular ultrasound technician career as they would not be able to discriminate the sounds of Doppler. Some careers require the ability to transfer patients from a wheelchair to a gurney. How should we advise students without being discriminatory?

Training

Training was long but very helpful

Federal regulations

federal regulations have become very strict as it relates to receiving compensation on behalf of students.

Catalogs

Catalogs gives students a clear direction academically

Mission

Mission statement enforces who we are

Unapproved Methods

I do not approve of compensation for students.there other ways to recognize and reward campus personnel who work in admissions and financial aid? Yes, although with restrictions. The Department of Education states that “institutions often maintain a hierarchy of recruitment personnel with different amounts of responsibility.

misrepresentation

Misrepresentation not only welcomes non compliance, but leaves a nasty taste with the student rather you intended for it to or not.

Mission

It is important to follow the mission of your institution, when you believe in the mission statement you take an extreme amount of pride in your work.

Communication

Adequate communication is very important

Trust

Building trust, credibility, and rapport it very important in connect with students

Why students leave

I feel a lot of students leave due to financial hardships or academic discouragement

Complaince

Remaining compliant is very necessary in all stages of the admissions process

Great information

This compliance training was super useful i have been in the field for over 4 years and its always great to refresh regulations realted to the field.

Students Who are afraid, because of a disability, and hide them.

How, if there is such a way, to recognize this and if so, how would you approach it??

Is it fair

Has any struggled with accommodations that they feel were inappropriate?

Accommodations

What if any accommodations have you made for disable students?

Equal Access

How do you provide equal access to students with learning disabilities?

students with disablilities

Do any of you here have any students with learning disabilities? If so how do you handle it?

Employ Case-by- Case Consideration

I like this approach which reasonable modifications must be made, so they are not discriminatory. Knowing that we have the ability to modify a particular policy, procedure, or practice in order to provide access is awesome. However we still need to be careful and consider all the ramifications and procedures when making a decision.
