I learned and/or have been refreshed on several things concerning engaging online learners that include me designing my courses from the student’s perspective and continually evaluating how clear and accessible my courses are. One best practice I’ve found is to keep social media use intentional and aligned with course objectives, not just using it for the sake of using it. Clear guidelines and expectations are key so students understand what is appropriate and how it connects to their learning.

What I learned from this course is how important student engagement is in online learning. I find that video instructions or explanations are helpful to some students. Many students not familiar with English struggle with written only instructions.

Building rapport is important and I do that with all my students. I consider their internal, external and circumstantial issues and meet them where they are. I communicate with emojis as to effectively communicate my emotions through technology. In the classroom I am able to respond immediately. So, the thing I plan to work on the most is responding faster and arranging my messages appropriately and more effectively.

They allow students to experience real-world scenarios in a virtual setting, which can improve skills, enhance problem-solving, and increase motivation. In eLearning environments, these tools help bridge the gap between theory and practice by allowing learners to experiment, make decisions, and see immediate results without real-world consequences.
