Putting Training into Practice: My Plan for More Engaging Online Classes

This training reinforced that effective live online teaching requires more than presenting information. Students need opportunities to participate, practice, and receive feedback. My role is to create activities that help them connect course concepts to situations they may encounter in the workplace.

My action plan is to break longer presentations into shorter sections, using chat prompts and polls to check understanding and breakout rooms for practical group activities. I will give clear instructions, assign group roles, and allow time for students to share their results.

I also plan to build in pauses for questions and provide a simple backup option when technology causes problems. After each session, I will review participation, student work, and feedback to identify what helped students learn and what needs adjustment. My goal is to make online classes more engaging while helping students build skills they can use beyond the classroom.
