ED101

Helpful to intersperse the "mini lectures" the other learning activities when a large block of time is set aside for the day's learning.

Very Helpful

I found the course to be very helpful with a wealth of information that I will utilize in my classrom.

ED 125

This was a very informative course.

It is better to be safe than sorry.

It is bettwer to come prepare for classwith more than one plan, just in case something goes wrong you man remain calm because you prepared more than one plan.

Helpful in my job.

Introductions as tool

This class helped me reevaluate using introductions as a tool to better understand students preferred learning styles. By asking the question: "how do you like to learn" during the student intro's I can do a quick assessment of the entire group. Most students in vo-tech schools will include an element of "hands-on" preference for sure. Our classes are structured to provide that.

Keep your groups small

I have found that keeping groups to a small number helps keep the activity running smoothly. I try to limit my activities to groups of no more than 4 students.

Flip Learning makes Sense

Learning involves doing and applying for the concepts to become real and applicable

Using CAT tools

One way I like to begin a class day is to use CAT tools to assess the students prior understanding of the material.  CAT stands for classroom assessment technique.  This could be a pre-test or even have the students write down 2-3 questions they had from the reading/homework that can guide a discussion after the lecture.  I have found that using small activites like this have increased preparedness for the class.  I am going to try to use a more innovative approach this coming week by utilizing the Nearpod app to give a pre-test to track each student individually and… >>>

New instructor

I can refine my role in three roles and they are

Improved classroom delivery

I thought the ED114 lesson was very helpful in providing in-classroom techniques to engaged the students.  I am always looking for ways to get lively interaction with me and among other students in the classroom.  I have been doing a good job but the lesson is very effective in fine-tuning one's classroom actions.  Recommend this lesson to all teachers--especially when older students and adults are involved

ED101

After an undergrad degree years ago in education and years in the technical field, this class quickly brought me back into the realm of teaching and presented key things to remember in order to be successful and put the student first.

Training:

Always empower!

Adult learners have different backgrouds. We should always try to empower them not with the just the knowledge of curriculum; but also with self-esteem.

Action Plan

I plan on working with my faculty to implement some of the skills I learned thorugh this course.  We have used some of the ideas already and look forward to expanding this teach style into more classes.

ED114 - Questioning in the Classroom

I particularly liked the information on research that shows most instructors ask more closed questions, yet the evidence shows that open questions are more effective. I also appreciated the information about wait times when questioning. This course makes me want to pay even more attention to my own style of questioning.

teaching lab skills

I will be using this knowledge in my lab.

Flipped Classroom

This was just in time since we have been discussing this in school as one of the ways to get the students to be more engaged , more participative and increase their learning in the subject matter. Quite difficult, it wont be easy as we have different levels of student of course different learning cureves and then there is US! How are we gonna do it, how equipt are we, Am I???

delivery

I will use this in my classroom settting
