What I Learned manageing class And Students

I learned that being an instructor is rewarding. I get a chance to give back to the community, and share my life experiences in the work field , by shareing my skills and letting them know we all make mistakes. We practice , and find fun ways to learn information and practice the job related skills, t help us be a successful individual in the work place.

Reflection

This course has helped me to reflect on my teaching history and determine things that I have done well and those not done so well.  I appreciate the insight and opportunity to grow.  I have tried to incorporate multiple learning styles into my delivery and keep my students engaged, but have tended to use only a few technological platforms in this.  Improving my instruction with technology is where I want to focus my efforts initially.

Knowing when & how to ask a question

Knowing who your audience is, will allow you to ask the type of question that may start a discussion.  Your having a discussion about morning drinks.  Many times a discussion may begin by just a simple question, ex. why does coffee taste better in the morning then the afternoon?

Depending on the situation and the audience, the answers may surprise everyone.  Everyone will want to review the why(s): Is it that bit of caffeine first thing in the morning or is it the flavor?  No answer will be wrong, this will be more opinion than anything.

best practice

I have use different tools to provided better delivery of information to students.  At the end to  class I go around to room and ask what specific thing do you think you learn today for the activities and lecture today.  The lecture was about personal space and the student drew several large circles on a sticky pad and place where people fit in their person space and large discussion resulted.

Recieving Feedback

I wish to do a better job at recieving feedback.  This should help me improve my skills overall

Reflection Action Plan

  1. Reflection: Provided an accurate description on the relevance of student cetentric learninig and comprehension
  2. Action:  Continue education through multiple platforms, be it online; on ground or institutionally (ACC/WCU) driven course.

Redirecting

I found this course helpful in letting me redirect students in a more positive way.

Reinforcement of teaching experience

These training sessions have reinforced the information teaching methods and style I had collected on my own over many years. What a great feeling that I have approval of me work.

Flipped Classroom

As a student that wanted more control of my pace and considered the traditional teaching environment too reliant on the personality of the instructor (ie effective teacher vs less effective).  I consider the flipped classroom theory to be very important.  In my opinion, the best tool we can teach our students is how to manuever through the world as a life-long student and informed citizen.  Pro-Active. Interpetitive. Responsible

creating an environment

I really appreciate all the knowledge I gain through maxknowledge. I have put into practice many of the strategies I've learned like: starting the first day of class with an intro of myself and I do everything I plan to do for the entire term in the first day. I welcome feedback. I go over the syllabus and class expectations. I put them into groups and I allow them to share. I have put inspiring quotes aroun the room. I have also put terms and concepts around the room that are related to class. I have them plenty of breaks. I… >>>

Great Advice and Insight

I really learned a lot about how and why to ask better thought out questions. Some of the techniques I used instinctively, but now I now when and why to apply them best. Lots of good practical applications and examples helped me better understabd how to incorporate these types of questions into my teaching. I recommend this course to my peers.

Thanks!! :))

Motivating students

I've found that initiating conversation with my students individually motivates them to try harder in class.

True or False Questions

I learned that use of negative statements in a True or False questions should be avoided as it throws the students off track in understanding the statement. From now on, I will not use negative statement & will use positive statements in the test.

keeping notes

Keep careful notes in an outline form to use in the future.  very good.

teaching with technology

lots of helpful information

Best practices

I have learned that the best practice is for students to teach me. This allows me to see if they are fully aware of what they are learning and where I need to improve as an instructor

making learning fun

it is important to make  students an active participate and a learder in their own learning

Flipping a Classroom

I am so excited to be someone who is completing the Max Knowledge. Teachers wish that their students read in advance, so when they are coming back" face-to-face with the students can feel confident that students actively will participate in learning. I want to say that by implementing "Flipping a classroom" teachers wishes come through what always wanted to accomplish.

I am very happy that our University has started to implement the Flipping a Classroom by training us frist.
