True or False Questions

I learned that use of negative statements in a True or False questions should be avoided as it throws the students off track in understanding the statement. From now on, I will not use negative statement & will use positive statements in the test.

keeping notes

Keep careful notes in an outline form to use in the future.  very good.

teaching with technology

lots of helpful information

Best practices

I have learned that the best practice is for students to teach me. This allows me to see if they are fully aware of what they are learning and where I need to improve as an instructor

Great material

Great information. Classroom strategies was especially helpful.

making learning fun

it is important to make  students an active participate and a learder in their own learning

Flipping a Classroom

I am so excited to be someone who is completing the Max Knowledge. Teachers wish that their students read in advance, so when they are coming back" face-to-face with the students can feel confident that students actively will participate in learning. I want to say that by implementing "Flipping a classroom" teachers wishes come through what always wanted to accomplish.

I am very happy that our University has started to implement the Flipping a Classroom by training us frist.

Self realization

I learned so much from this course.  I realized some of what was covered in the course is exactly what I've been doing.  I love teaching and I'm incredibly passionate about what I do so I tend to get a long really great with my students all the time but I realized I need to remember to keep boundaries and not be their "pal" all the time.

Very Enlightening Teaching Methodologies

This block of instruction was very informative and interesting.  I have a better understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the instructors.  Although I have seen all of these concepts (as a student on the receiving end) in the past, I now understand how and why some classes were structured the way they were.

I intend to utilize these concepts as I move on to more of an instructor role in my future endeavors.

Thanks for the information!

Learning

This course has open my eyes to multiple ways to introduce course objectives and goals. In some ways I have been doing this by lecturing on a topic then  lead into a physical demo and concluding with Q/A session.

Peardeck

I have recently implemented using Peardeck with my power points.  It is extreamly interactice, it takes over the students ipads and asks them questions throughout the lecture to make sure everyone is understanding the material.  I am in love with the program!!

ED101

I have learned so much in preparation for my first day of teaching. One main component I will utilize is providing a variety of teaching methods to my lectures. As a student too, that is important to me to keep me interested and focused on the topic at hand.

my thoughts

We, as educators must have our students in mind at all times during class time and the time they are in school. Every detail we take care of, every new idea we implement, every extra minute we spend with our students will make a positive impact on them. Never give up on them. They are at SCI because they need our help to guide them through their education and provide them with not only book knowledge, but more importantly life knowledge. We are their guiding light to help them succeed at school and in their careers.

Ed-107

Enforce how important are the learning objectives on the board, review at the begining and end of class, and apply them to real life experience or case study.

Effective Teaching Stategies

Effective Teaching Strategies has given me a clearer introspective and understanding of effective teaching strategies. How I wish I read this prior to me first didactic experience.

Group projects

It's important for the students to know and network with classmates because they might just have them in other classes. I create group projects for a class grade also, to establish interaction since the very beginning of their first term to allow them the opportunity to create study groups, outside help and maybe assist one and other with transportation issues.

Course Organization

I love creating an atmosphere of intellectual safety in the classroom by disarming normal student apprehensions: peer judgement, incorrect answers, penalties for different attitudes.  It allows me to gain their trust as an impartial mediator of the content.  Equally important to my efforts is to have a clear message for the lecture, which is especially important when an active discussion happens with the class.  I find that I spend a lot of time trying to distill my message as much as possible to make make message have a greater impact and to give more time for discussion.

Questioning during power point lecture

I have inserted power point slides that include questions based on what we have just covered.  This is done several times through out the PP lecture, great for those visual learners!  For instance: we just covered blood flow through the heart and body. Questions on the next slide would include "which vessel carries de oxygenated blood to the heart?" Then list the vessels, and students answer.  The answer is then highlighted with the next click and also a visual.   Or "what is the goal for the body to use compensatory mechanisms to keep blood flowing?"  next slide is the… >>>
