I have learned that instructors need to take time to get familiar with the course content, delivery methods, CMS, school policies, and best ways to keep students actively engage in teh content as well as getting them all the support that is needed. 

 

We are creating competency checklists for our students to help them gain proficiency and confidence in the skills they are learning.  Focus on the higher level thinking is a big part of these competency checklists.

That is awesome, Trina.  I find that when I make the time to work out, I can think clearer and I am more productive at work despite the stresses.  Stress is actually more manageable when I take the time to take care of me.

I use To Do lists regularly.  I used to keep a pad of paper specifically for it, but have since moved to my Samsung tablet.  It really helps me to focus my time more effectively, especially when my attentions are often being drawn in several different directions.

I have been working very hard with my team to foster first class customer service by coaching and guiding to never give up on a student.  There are many times that instructors form biases against students due to past student behaviors or perceived beliefs of students.  These biases come out in every little thing we do and cause students to think that if the instructor does not believe in them, they must not be good enough and will never succeed.  I tell my instructors that I never give up on my students.  As Director of Education, I will continue to… >>>

I love these comments.  Getting instructors to look at everything they do as a way that helps students want to be in school is an ongoing training opportunity.  There are opportunities to provided that outstanding service at every turn.  Great class!

Every department should be working toward an effective partnership that supports the student and meets student needs from the first step on campus, followed by every contact moving forward.  It takes the entire team to build that world class experience.

Above and beyon customer service in the education industry involves finding out what the customer needs or wants and helping the customer meet those needs or wants while making him/her feel as if your focus is only on him/her.  Really listening and advising based on what you hear.  Help them to get back on track or on the right track so they can be successful.

There is no set formula that fits all students.  We need to find out the reasons behind the student's inability to progress.  We need to do everything we can to get the student back on track and we need to give the student every opportunity to learn how to perform at the standards we set for our student.  In the end, even when the student decides it is not for him/her at that time, we know we have done everything we can to assist them to successful completion and we will continue to do so if the student decides to… >>>
