There is no question that in an online course students need to know that their questions will be answered.  There is nothing more frustrating than being stuck in an online course, and being unable to reach the instructor to get clarification.  As an instructor, it is vital that our students know that we will be there for them to help answer their questions in a timely manner.

I found it interesting to focus on both technical and content support, and that student success is contingent upon the students mechanical ability to access and understand the material they need to

I learned to remind students of resources for them when they need it especially when doing online courses.

Role as an online instructor you should familiarize yourself with the CMS and make sure you  know how to navigate successfully. During Orientation you can answer any questions concerns and support students effectively.

I've learned that to efficiently support students during their learning experience, Instructors need to be prepared in advance to deliver the right information. It is very interesting to learn all the ways instructors have to reach that goal.

Everyone has their own style of learning and teaching.

It is very important to be prepared.

Communication is key with online courses. Making sure that students have an orientation session to the course and all of the links are properly functioning. The orientation session can be accomplished by video recording with closed caption and transcript information.

I find it entertaining that the course tells one to familiarize themselves with the content prior to instruction, I hope we have not reached the point in education where teachers teach without knowledge......

Everyone has a different approach to instruction in the online setting, but key point is engagement and communicaton.

Though course introduction is similar, it is important to fully understand how the course management system works.

Students can feel confident that instructors are available to guide them through the lessons.

As an instructor it's my responsibility to effectively manage the online learning environment, teach and assist with technical navigation all the way to the course/lessons.

Know what you are teaching. Make sure you have everything you need. Know the CMS System. Make sure you have structure, are clear with your due dates and deadlines for grades. Make sure your students are understanding the information and have access to everything you will be teaching.
