As instructors we should help students construct knowledge rather than simply receive it from the teacher.
Instructors must include instruction on accessing and utilizing online resources. It cannot be assumed that all students are technologically inclined and understand all available resources upon entry into an online program.
Each online course has a discussion board that is for students to ask questions and communicate with each other. We have found that students do not use this board because it is part of the course in LMS. Perhaps using a social network would encourage interaction with each other.
Using different forms of communication will be essential in our teaching. Every student learns differently and has a preferred method of communication.
The goal would be to let my students feel open enough to have a social network on their LMS.
There are many different forms of communication to use in the online environment, and we do need to provide direction on how to use them for those students that may be unfamilar or those that struggle with technology.

Students may need more technical support that I originally considered. I have learned a lot through these courses in regards of how students learn and their needs
I can certainly relate to students not having what I consider basic computer skills. For example, I require students to submit work in Microsoft Word format so that I can insert comments when I grade them. However, students will frequently submit PDF documents instead. I'm not sure why this happens. I would think that .DOCX would be the default format for a Word document, but somehow students still send the PDFs. I make sure to provide detailed instructions on how to save documents, which includes handy YouTube videos, but it remains enough of an issue that I frequently have to turn to my PDF converter.
Asynchronous communication tools facilitate communication that doesn't require immediate, real-time interaction. These tools allow individuals to send and receive messages, share information, and collaborate on projects at their own pace.

Ser proactivo desde el inicio, brindando tutoriales y utilizando el programa del curso como una herramienta informativa, no solo prepara a los alumnos para los requerimientos técnicos del curso, sino que también reduce la frustración y aumenta la autonomía del estudiante. Es importante el enfoque que sugiere no bajar los estándares tecnológicos, sino más bien ofrecer apoyo y recursos para que los estudiantes puedan desarrollar las habilidades necesarias. Esta actitud fomenta la responsabilidad del estudiante y mantiene la calidad académica del curso.

Using different forms of communication is going to be essential in our job. We also need to make sure our students are capable of using multiple forms of communication and technology to do better throughout their learning experience.
Definitely, email is the most important communicationt tool. We need to be responsible and check it on a daily basis to provide answers on time.

For an online course to work well, it's key to use different forms of communication. Tools like email and discussion forums allow students to participate at their own pace. I also believe that live meetings help create a sense of community and closeness with the instructor.
It's also important to support those who struggle with technology from the start to avoid frustration later on. The virtual course environment should be flexible and improve based on student feedback.
Additionally, integrating social media into learning can increase engagement and allow students to share ideas in a familiar space.
